Peter didn't particularly want to gather a crowd, but making a campfire and tossing black snakes and firecrackers at it seemed particularly amusing today.

So yeah, there was definitely a bit of noise. Peter wasn't a blossoming pyro or anything, he was just a bored teenager. Anyone was definitely welcome to join him. He might even have some moddable extra bits of fireworks.

"It's a little different for me, but I have an older brother," she admitted, "but...sort of. If you let people know you can see, they usually will cut it out."

"Hopefully the situation won't arise." Not that Bod was overly confident about that since the quarters were so close but he was optimistic. "Hopefully those that live with me will do the same if I do something out of the ordinary for cabins."

"Just don't like, run around naked," she suggested. "You should be okay. And for the sake of every telepath in your cabin, try not to like, picture things others might not want to see." She was getting close to her wit's end with that.

"...telepath?" Bod asked, picking up on that unfamiliar word and focusing on it. "I'm not sure what you mean. Is that something cultural?"

"Mindreaders," she supplied, slanting a look at him. "I haven't mentioned I'm telepathic?"

"Not to me," Bod said, sitting up a little straighter and rapidly trying to think of what he'd thought about around her recently. "I didn't know that was possible. Oh. Wow."

"I only get surface thoughts, and only if I'm looking -- usually," she assured him, quickly. "Like, right now I can tell you're trying to think about what you've thought around me recently, and I can tell you that I don't know, because I haven't poked into your head. You've never heard of telepaths even in stories?"

"Not even there," Bod said, a little shaken by both the demonstration and prospect. He didn't let it show though save for taking a slow breath. "Ghosts didn't have that ability. They had other abilities but not that one. And, if they did, they didn't tell me. I didn't know it was possible."

"Bod, I won't read your mind unless you give me permission," she said seriously, watching him. "You're a quiet broadcaster, anyway."

"I believe you," Bod said sincerely, nodding once before he rubbed his eyes. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to overreact. Some things are still new to me. That's a rather big one."

He supposed, though, that quiet broadcasting meant he wasn't telling every telepath his past.

"...have you heard anything unusual from me?" he had to ask.

"Not that I recall," she said honestly. "Anything I've gotten has been explained by the ghost thing. There are some people who're really loud -- like, they don't keep their thoughts to themselves. I'm not sure how to explain it, but they just have louder personalities, usually, too, and they're the ones I inadvertently pick up. Like...Kennedy's one. So is that kid with the mohawk."

Bod nodded, still looking a little unsure of things but settling down rather quickly.

"It's a rather unique talent," he said after a moment. "And burdensome at times, I'm sure."

"More than you'd think," she said, with a small smile. "But that's the case of like, every talent out there, isn't it?"

"I suppose," Bod answered after a moment's pause. "It's good to know that there are others like you around, though. I didn't know thoughts could be disturbing to some. Even if I'm quiet, I'm sure I can be quieter."

"Honey, don't worry about it. I promise, I have never picked up thoughts from you," she assured him. "I can teach you some shielding if you're worried, but seriously, there are better ways to spend your time."

"Worried isn't the exact word," he said even if it was. He wasn't worried about people seeing his thoughts but he was worried about possible reactions if he tended to think about certain things. "I'm all right, I promise. I'm more concerned about people picking up the boring things I think."
