Harpy Campfire, Friday Evening

Unlike some people, Kennedy wasn't feeling particularly burdened today; actually, the single oversized external-frame backpack that had just materialized on her morning run, while heavy, had made for a satisfyingly challenging workout. The part where getting rid of it wasn't happening... eh, that was mildly inconvenient, but she could deal. She'd just hope it went away in the morning, and do double time in the gym when it did.

In the meantime? If anybody needed her tonight she'd be the one trying to make the most of this whole roughing-it experience, sitting on a log beside the fire with the usual campfire foods, a huge box of takeout from Ching Tai (please, she wasn't roasting her own dinner but if anyone wanted to they could go for it), and her boots propped up on a very lumpy backpack labeled Just Wants to be the Slayer, Dammit.

Just ignore the little toiletries case beside it that read Man, Getting Burned by a Straight Girl Kinda Sucked. Hey, she was ignoring it too.

Rilla--toting a smart little purse emblazoned with OTHER GIRLS ARE PRETTIER THAN ME--sat down with a tiny sigh. "It's hard to move around here today," she commented.

Kennedy glanced at the label on the purse and... okay, she couldn't help it, took a second to look at Rilla. "Kinda looks like a backup at the O'Hare baggage claim, doesn't it?" she asked. "The island is being extra special today."

"Oh, that's not true," Rinoa said, taking a seat near Rilla. And addressing her luggage, and not anything she'd said out loud. "You're very pretty."

Boundaries were for other people to observe, apparently.

"Oh hey, at least yours is small." Diana commented as a third trunk labeled Dying young joined her previous two along with another small hat box for Samuel, this one with the label What am I?.

"That is not true," Sookie said, eyeing Rilla's luggage. Mostly she was just being nice. Most people in Fandom were pretty, period.

Tim had a partially-eaten bag of marshmallows with him (and a sleek, red, utilitarian backpack labeled LEGACY). He waved at the girl. Had he met-? No, he'd met her as Robin, so she wouldn't know Tim. "Hey," he said. "Do you mind if I use your fire?"

See? There was a cute boy. Ariel knew it was just a matter of time and she waved at him in greeting as he came to join the campfire, and did her best to look cute, since she really couldn't do much else without being able to say hi.

Oh, hey, it was the kid from PE who'd like doubled over when she threw the ball at him the first week.

"Go for it," Kennedy told him, waving an arm at the fire. "That's the rule of these things, right? All about the bonding or something."

"Whose legacy?" Rinoa asked. Because hey, it was right there, so clearly she should ask about it.

"Are you throwing luggage in it?" Diana asked very innocently. Samuel was shredding his hat boxes. It wasn't working very well.

Raven flew down to perch on Tim's backpack. "Caw!"

Ariel was on the prowl for some new potential and, while there were no boys at this campfire yet, maybe a gathering of people would draw them in like sharks to a chum bucket. Besides, there was no reason to be rude. She drifted over, waved to girl already at the fire, and plopped down on a log.

Well, there was a Potential at the campfire, but... probably not what Ariel was looking for. "Yo," Kennedy said lazily, fishing an eggroll out of one of the takeout cartons. "New girl? Hang out and have some food."

"Silent red-head!" Diana called out. "Don't pull on the cat's tail."

It wasn't really surprising that all of Rinoa's luggage was nicely coordinated. Somehow, it was a matching set in a very becoming shade of royal blue.

The biggest suitcase was on rollers, and had DADDY ISSUES embossed in white lettering. The other suitcase said Really Not Happy About This Whole 'Sorceress' Deal. And the small toiletries case had Entitlement stamped on it. That one was very chic, and bigger on the outside than the inside.

"What are we supposed to do with these, anyway?" Rinoa asked, wheeling up to a vacant spot at the campfire.

Rinoa! Ariel's attention went to the other girl for a moment, waving her hands, partially in greeting, and partially in oh my gosh, we so need to talk.

Well, not talk, but...You get the point.

But she asked about the luggage and Ariel felt compelled to shrug a little and point to the firepit as indication of what she'd done with most of hers. Not all of them. She really liked some of them an awful lot and they weren't going anywhere.

Kennedy hadn't noticed her own Entitlement duffel bag (that was probably bigger on the inside than the outside, conversely) yet, since it had popped up behind the log she was sitting on.

"Not really sure," she admitted, glancing at Rinoa's luggage. "Right now I'm going with hoping they disappear. Nice matched set you have there, though."

...she'd been looking at the style, sadly. Not the labels.

"Your...stuff is cute!" Sookie exclaimed, a little enviously. She wasn't really looking at what it all actually said. Seemed rude, seeing as how she was purposely facing one piece of luggage actually away from the campfire.

Jason had spent all day shoving luggage of various sizes under his bed, but the large duffel bag labeled ABANDONMENT ISSUES had to go outside. When he came out of the cabin, he looked at the fire, wondering if he could burn the bag without burning everyone else that was out there.

Probably not. Damn it.

"I'm so ready for this stuff to go away," he said, dropping the bag and kicking it instead. That was still pretty satisfying at least.

Tim waved. And made no comment about having a very similar bag (in a much more expensive style) stuffed into his alcove back at the cabin. Instead, he said, "I thought we were supposed to get fun stuff, like candy rain."

"Hey, it's our token cabin guy!" Kennedy really couldn't help the smirk there. "Tell me about it. I have enough luggage shoved in my stupid alcove already without this stuff showing up."

Not that she had much of it, but she really had packed a ridiculous amount of her things for the cabin stay to begin with.

Sookie was fleeing the luggage that had just (http://longislandiceme.livejournal.com/20217.html?thread=406009#t406009) appeared when she came outside after talking to Bobby.

Pity that as soon as she found a spot by the campfire, a bag that said THINKS HER MOTHER DIDN'T LOVE HER appeared at her side.

"What, this? It's not so bad," Kennedy replied. Sure. Just because hers wasn't. "What's up, Sookie? It rocks that they put us in the same cabin."

As he walked up to the fire, Kurt looked down for the umpteenth time at the messenger bag he was toting that was labeled TERRIFIED OF TELEPORTING INTO THE MIDDLE OF SOLID OBJECTS. It sort of gave him comfort that that one was probably totally unique.

The suitcase that he was dragging along behind him, though, that said LOOKS LIKE A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FREAK -- that one, he wasn't so proud of. Or the little tote bag that read MOTHER IS EVIL.

"Guten Abend, everybody!" he called, waving.

"Hey," Kennedy replied, raising a hand-- complete with eggroll. "Don't you kind of feel like we should be going somewhere cooler and more exotic than the middle of the preserve with all of this stuff?"

Diana has been ignoring the trunks that read Never going to be Claire and Questions about my sexuality that had taken to following her and had instead focused on the small hat box that was following Samuel around that said My true identity. It was easier than thinking about all the other luggage now piling up somewhere behind her that she was ignoring.

"Oh good, it's not just me." She said when she spotted Kennedy and walked over to sit down on a nearby log.

"Nah. It's the latest Fandom fad." Huh. The cat had baggage too? "Sorry to disappoint if you were hoping to be the only one."

Kennedy chucked a thumb at the food. "Hey, Diana. You hungry?"

Raven flitted over and perched on a log near Kennedy. "Caw!" she said, which when translated meant "Your issues, talk to me about them."

"Hey," Kennedy complained, making a shooing gesture. "Do I look like I brought out birdseed or something?"
