Main campfire [Monday evening]

Ben still had a residual headache from the pounding music in Stark's earlier in the day, but he decided that it was nothing grilled sausages and marshmallows couldn't fix.

Besides, the weather was too nice out tonight to waste it by being indoors. Ben sat on a log next to the crackling fire, grilling a sausage with half his attention. The other half was focused on the stars.

It'd been too long since he'd flown.

"Marshmallows and sausages," Ben said. "I'm still me."

"Are you sharing?" she wondered. The problem with trying to involve herself in work and training as much as possible was that she tended to forget she was hungry until she was reminded.

"Of course," Ben said. "Coming out here and not sharing would be mean."

[solo_sword]

"It's you, you might have claims on it all," she pointed out. Or maybe that'd only be ice cream.

He laughed. "I'm not that bad."

He was.

"Have a sausage. They're good."

"Well, since you're giving orders," she said lightly, going to get one. "How've you been doing?" She'd been gone for a bit, and the last time she'd seen him she'd had puppies and he wasn't so happy, so.

He gave her a quick shoulder shrug in reply. "I need to go flying soon," he said. "I've been ground-bound too long. How was home?"

"Hot," she said, making a face. She was still bitter at the weather here, too. "It was fine. Thwart some bad guys, then go spend too much time on a shuttle with a bunch of boys. The usual."

"Which boys?" Ben asked.

[solo_sword]

"Zekk, Tesar and Lowie. It was an interesting trip, let's put it that way," she replied.

"Sounds it," Ben said with a smile. "By interesting you mean 'and I wanted to smack all of their heads together halfway through', right?"

[solo_sword]

"Pretty much," she said, though probably not for the reasons he was figuring. "A group full of pilots and they still let me fly, though, so I refrained from any smacking." Because they knew better, yes they did.

Ben snorted. "Like any of those guys are stupid enough to not let Jaina Solo do what she wanted to."

[solo_sword]

"Oh, don't think they don't try sometimes. They'll learn." Especially since even just trying pretty much never got them anywhere.

"Well, arguing with Tesar would be hard, but Zekk's a total pushover for you," Ben said.

[solo_sword]

That sounded weird. "I wouldn't call him a pushover..."

Ben gave her a rueful smile. "Talk to me about this again in fifteen years," he advised.
