Locust campfire- Thursday night

This was really weird.

Jaina didn't have the anxious, jittery feeling in the cabins that she used to. Some closure and time had done some good there. No, the weird part was that she was still in the cabins again. But it was this or singing insects and she'd already screamed at them twice before the announcement, so she figured she was fighting a losing battle there. It was just very strange going back to something she'd thought was fun at sixteen and then circumstances had sort of ruined the fun part.

Still, she could deal with it, and it wasn't going to stop her from getting a fire going and bringing out the makings for s'mores when she was pretty sure it wasn't going to be raining. When you'd been deprived of chocolate as long as she had, you found reasons to have it.

[I've been wanting to play all daaaay. You should play with me. *nods*]

"Thanks," he said. "You might say different if we went on an op together these days, but that's not so likely."

"Well, of course it'd be great, right?" John teased. "And highly successful, except for the part where something went terribly wrong. But we'd come out of it in the end, no matter how beaten, broken, tortured, or dead I was at any point during the op. I know, it sounds like your kind of fun, yeah?"

"Mmm, s'mores," he said, accepting the cooked creation as a good conversation change. "Now this is what the Pegasus Galaxy is missing."

"At least you have chocolate," John whined. "They don't even have something similar to coffee out there. It gets depressing. Got. It's not like I can go back."

"Don't be sorry," John plastered on a smile. "I'm good here. But don't go putting chocolate in my coffee. I'd rather drink your evil hot cocoa."

"Misunderstood like an evil mastermind," John smirked. "But then, what else can we expect from the chocolate drunk by Jedi."

"Depends on your answer to which came first, the bunny or the Cadbury creme egg?" There was a reason no one ever called John sane. Not that he ever would admit this.

"Jesus, Jaina," John smacked his own forehead. "I failed you in so many ways. Uh, culturally speaking." The rest he wasn't copping to yet.

"Not when you learned so little!" Possibly because they'd make out during every movie they ever tried watching, cultural references be damned.

"Well then, I'm gonna fill you in," John decided. "See, at Easter, people eat a lot of chocolate, and this chocolate company called Cadbury makes these egg shaped things with yellow and white sugary creme inside to look like an egg yolk." He paused. "And the more I think about it, the grosser it seems? But anyhow, the ads for Cadbury products feature a clucking bunny that lays the creme eggs...and you're not following at all are you?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
There would be no clucking. "Just remember this come April when you're candy shopping. This time of year you really can't verify it. Unless you go on the internet and find a commercial..."

John could only laugh. "You would. Three years with an earpiece attached to my head and getting pulled from sleep for situations has me thrilled to leave mine in my apartment, oops."

"Still hanging with your favorite pop star?" John asked, only rolling his eyes a little bit.
