Farewell Slumber Party, 6th Floor, Wednesday Night

By now, Karla was used to throwing parties at school. The set-up was easy enough: lots of food, lots of drinks, lots of games and activities, lots of space. There were some streamers and balloons up, mostly because Karla was trying to remind everyone (or, at least, herself) that this was supposed to be a happy occasion.

Really. It was. At least, that's what everyone kept telling her.

The important thing to keep in mind was that there would (probably) be no repeat of her last sixth floor party sadly. She had gone the safe an glitter-free route this time. Clad in her new pajamas, Karla waited for her guests to arrive.

"It can be pretty powerful stuff, but that's why just a little bit of chocolate should do the trick," said Hoshi. "You know, there is a kitchen up here with a blender. A chocolate milkshake sounds really good right now."

"Or chocolate ice cream," she mused. "It is hard to go wrong with that."

"Ooh, that sounds good, too," said Hoshi. "And the weather is certainly warm enough to enjoy ice cream."

"It's been a lovely summer," Hinata agreed. "I'm almost sad to see the fall coming."

"It's always sad to see the summer end, but fall can be very nice as well," said Hoshi. "I love seeing the leaves change colors. It's very pretty."

"It just never lasts long enough," Hinata laughed. "Of course, I am not fond of the winter so I might be biased..."

"You need to find a place that is warm all year-round," suggested Hoshi, smiling. "I can think of quite a few of them, myself."

"Well, it gives you something to look forward to," said Hoshi. "That is the exciting part about graduating. There is so much out there that I want to see."

"I will probably go home after graduating," she said, still smiling. "So it's less likely that I'll be able to thoroughly sight-see."

"If you do get a chance to do some sight-seeing, you should visit San Francisco. It's actually warmer there in the winter than in the summer," said Hoshi. "I really enjoyed it. Or maybe you could visit me once I start classes in Brazil. It would be a real adventure!"

"I would love to visit you," she said, smiling. "And a visit could be arranged, I am certain. Why is San Francisco warmer in the winter, please?"

"It's surrounded by water on three sides, so it has something to do with the ocean currents bringing warm water in the winter months," said Hoshi. "Of course, I didn't get to stay there during the winter, but that's what everyone told me."
