Salle | Afternoon | Sunday | September 5
It was safe to say that Percy had been looking forward to this since he and Luke had made plans. It wasn't just getting to fight someone that he could go all out against, it was getting to fight Luke. Every single time he'd come up against Luke in the last three years, it'd been when Luke had a gang of monsters and minions at his back.
This would be one on one. When he'd met Luke, he'd been easily bested, easily shown up and easily embarrassed. He'd learned though and he wasn't the same person now as he was back then. Percy didn't know if he could beat Luke but he knew he'd give him a tough fight.
For now, he was taking some easy swings at the practice dummies, warming up with Riptide while he waited for his cousin to show up.
[Percy's only gonna be fighting Luke but the salle is totes open for conversation and practice!]

Percy saw the jab coming and tried to twist his leg away because getting jabbed by a sword was going to draw blood no matter what. Percy swung awkwardly with his sword, trying to deflect Luke's shot while he was...sort of on top of Luke.

He was so glad there wasn't an audience now. This would be hard to explain.

Luke was too close to try and jab or cut so he reached up to try and slam the hilt of Riptide against Luke's cheek.

Percy didn't drop Riptide when Luke pinned his arm but holding onto his sword was pretty much useless. He wondered how pissed Luke would be if he summoned up the water from within him and doused him.
Probably pretty pissed so he didn't. Instead, he tried to knee Luke in the groin.

Considering how close they were, a knee to the groin wasn't as bad as it could have been, but it still fucking sucked. Luke loosened his grip on Percy's wrist without even realizing it, instead focusing on getting revenge for the cheap move and moving his leg so his knee was digging into Percy's hip. He was about to forget the sword and just punch the kid in the face. That could get him to bleed too.

Percy felt sweat run into his eyes, making him blink. The loosened grip on his wrist encouraged him to try and bash Luke in the face with it again so that's what he did. He went for the chin this time, trying to daze him or something.

and people were very sad about that. He pushed himself up off the ground quickly. He didn't have his shield on him anymore, but it didn't matter. He had won fights without one before.no subject
He took a minute to wipe his brow and decided that he'd given Luke a good match no matter what happened. He was glad to be off his back though. Percy wasn't going to waste time either, swinging his sword towards Luke's empty hand.

He wasn't as quick as he had been at the beginning of the fight, but was doing his best to keep his focus even if he could use some aspirin right now.

What it also did was bring his sword up against Luke's hard enough that it jarred Percy's already sore hand. He winced and dropped his arm to his side for a minute, leaving him with only his shield as a means to fight with.

Luke moved like he was going to hit Percy straight on, but at the last moment pivoted left and turned, blindly swinging his sword to hit Percy in the back of the shoulder. If it didn't work he figured he could confuse Percy long enough to get another hit in.

Percy felt the blade of Luke's sword cut into the back of his shoulder and briefly hoped that it wouldn't bleed. It was a stupid hope because he felt the blood running down his skin almost instantly. It stung like crazy.
He hissed in pain, swinging around instinctively with his sword towards Luke's head. He knew he'd lost but that defensive reaction was just instinct.

At least it wasn't his face again. Still, Luke hissed in pain, because it hurt like Hades. He lifted up his arm so he could get a look at it and frowned when he saw blood running down his arm. "Was that really necessary?"
no subject
Still, it was a little gratifying to see he'd gotten a good shot in even if it was a little too late. He pointed Riptide towards the ground and leaned on it, breathing heavily and wincing.
"I would have done it to anyone," he added after a moment. "You know."

He wasn't entirely sure how deep he actually cut Percy. He hadn't exactly been thinking of safety, which was sort of disturbing considering he was careful with the people he usually taught.

"I'll take a swim and I'll be fine," he added, glancing over his shoulder. There was a rip in his shirt and a long but not too deep gash on his shoulder. "Probably ruined this shirt though."

Luke was a great swordsman. He knew that even before this match. He was proud that he hadn't gone down easily but he wasn't going to stalk off and pout. He wasn't a son of Ares.

"You gonna be all right?" That was a lot of blood on his arm. Percy was just checking out of respect, not because he cared. Of course not.
no subject
"I'll be fine," he said. "It's not that deep. Trust me, I've had experience with bad cuts."
no subject
"Good," he said after a moment. "I'd get yelled at if I cut you too badly. People here really like you."
Or Jason Todd did.
