Second Floor Common Room; Monday Afternoon

It wasn't Shira's common room, but that wasn't stopping her from plopping herself down on a couch and flipping through the TV channels.

People could make her leave if they didn't want her there. The second floor was just more interesting today.

Even if what was on the television was even more boring, if possible, than anything she'd watched before.

"Good. That I'm not alone, I mean," Shira amended. "It... I thought I was going to hate it here. Thought I'd hate being away from home and everything I know. But people here are making it bearable."

"It's so different, isn't it?" Karla sympathized. "When I arrived, I thought I'd gone to the Twisted Kingdom. No Blood, no Jewels, no protocol..."

"And the only kind of Craft isn't even called Craft, it's just simple magic." Shira winced at the memory of the culture shock she'd suffered the first couple weeks.

"You should come to the Magic Reserve meetings anyway," Karla said. "I help run them, and it's always good to know more about the different kind of magics on the island. Plus, we can always use another Healer."

Shira thought about it for a moment. It would be a good use of her skills, and like Karla said, it was always good to know more...

"All right," she said with a nod. "When are the meetings?"

"Wednesday afternoons after classes," Karla answered. "In the Preserve. We always have food, too."

Karla knew her incentives.

"It's also a great way to meet new people!"

And, you know, food!
