Jaime had popcorn, chips and salsa, and candy corn (hey, it was that time of year!) spread out and was flopped back on the couch sorting through a small stack of DVDs. He wasn't entirely sure what he wanted to... Aha!

Giant robots with over-the-top (if somewhat awkward) CGI effects were just what the doctor ordered. Not that the movie was really good, but Jaime wasn't looking for good.

And at least it wasn't the sequel.

Momoko's brow furrowed. He was getting better at that look! "You've totally been practicing that, haven't you?"

She reached out and tried to force a pinky swear. "Of course I want to watch movies with you. Just not those. I need incentive or I'll totally bring a pillow and sleep while you watch them."

"I've got a special mirror for it."

No he didn't.

"So... what's the deal you're trying to get me to swear to, exactly?"

She rolled her eyes and dropped her head to her chest. "Jaime! Can't you remember things for more than a few comments minutes?" She looked up and poked him. "You promise to make me a dark chocolate cake with raspberry filling and I promise to watch all three of those ringy movies with you."

"And that's it, right? No additional clauses or terms or other lawyerly things?"

[heromaniac]

Eyes narrowed. "Not on my part. Are you planning on being tricky with me, Jaime Reyes?"

[weldedtomyspine]

"Nope. We have a deal." Jaime held up his pinky for her.

[heromaniac]

Momoko broke out in a grin and linked their pinkies to seal the promise. "Deal! See? That wasn't so hard. And I'll even promise to try not to fall asleep on you as a bonus!"

"You better not. No pillows."

[heromaniac]

"That wasn't part of the deal!" Momoko tsked, smiling. "But I won't. I want to know why you think it's such a good movie. You usually have better taste."

And yes, that was a stifled giggle as she grabbed another handful of popcorn.

"I was about to say the same thing about you," he shot back with a fond smirk.

"I have totally excellent taste! I hang out with you, don't I?"

"Weren't you blaming that on magic just a little bit ago?"

[heromaniac]

"No," she lied, firmly looking at the tv screen and trying to keep a serious look on her face.

"Oh. I must have been confused about that." Yep. Of course.

[heromaniac]

"Of course you were confused, Jaime." She patted his knee, still trying to keep her grin from breaking loose. "How could I ever say that I only liked you because of an evil spell? That's totally ridiculous."

"Maybe I'm just getting senile in my old age, or something."

[heromaniac]

"Well, you are older than me, so maybe?"

[weldedtomyspine]

"Well, not by much. So I guess this time next year you'll be forgetting stuff all the time, too." So take that!

Momoko did not want to think about 'this time next year', thank you very much.

"A whole quarter of a year older! You're ancient! I'd poke you but you'd totally break a hip or something, I know it. In fact I should totally scoot further away in case I accidentally nudge you." She scooted closer and shifted to rest her back against him.

"Oh, look at that, now I'm stuck," Jaime said with a laugh as he let his arm flop lightly against her, kind of settling her against him a bit.

Mmm... comfy.

She snorted softly. "You've been stuck with me since the first cookie you baked for me, Jaime; sorry."

"You're not really sorry," Jaime accused, patting her shoulder lightly.

[heromaniac]

"Hmm. No. Not really; It was a really good cookie."

[weldedtomyspine]

"And you're so easy," he teased fondly.

[heromaniac]

"Nuh-uh!" She grabbed a handful of popcorn. "It was a really really good cookie! Only the best cookie makers get to be my best friends. You're totally on the short list."
