Third Floor Common Room, Monday Morning

Kate had not been pleased to find herself still a dude when she'd woken up today. It wasn't that she had a huge problem with it as such herself, it was just that she was kind of worried for the sanity of a certain someone else.

But there was nothing she could really do about it, so she'd just wandered down into the common room and decided it was a day for baking. Everyone would appreciate chocolate chip muffins, right?

(Kate, by the by, was not mature enough to not laugh at the fact that they had nuts in them.)

A couple of batches of muffins baked and set on the counter to be taken, she flopped down onto one of the couches and started leafing through an issue of Cosmo. Trying to see if she could get a male perspective on it today.

[ooc: Yes, you guessed it, it's an open common room!]

Hinata couldn't really answer the question, no, but she was going to smile with a small wave at the other person who she recognized-but-didn't know.

But at least she wasn't the only one who hadn't changed over in here now.

People in their right gender were very much welcomed by Cloud. Same with the others, but it was a lot less weird if you knew the girl you were talking to was going to stay that way.

"Hey", said as he racked his brains trying to remember her name. It wasn't going so well. "I'm Cloud." A beat. "I'm still getting used at the whole meeting new people thing." It had only taken...how many moths? Tifa would call it an astounishing progress.

Her smile was a bit wry. "I am Hinata," she said lightly. "And I can... sympathize. I am not very good at it either."

[identity profile] eyesofahero.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Aha, Hinata; Cloud wasn't forgetting. "It's nice to meet you. And...there is always room for improvement, I suppose." Because if they were talking, it was possible.

"Has people...changed before?"

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Like this?" she checked, smiling slightly. "Yes. Last year it was... in September."

Hinata looked a bit amused. "But it didn't happen all at once. The boys got hit, and then a little bit later, the girls did."

[identity profile] eyesofahero.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
For all that he had learned so far, there was no point in asking just why it hadn't happened again that way. "That sounds oddly organized, for a gender change...event." For a while there were more girls, and then more boys. Oversimplification helped his brain deal with it.

"You weren't affected...I hope?"

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
She made a face.

"Last year I was," Hinata admitted. "I feel glad that it has missed me this time."

And she could feel bad for all of those it had changed this year.

"I th-think," she offered, "that it is one of the things that the island likes to do on a schedule of it's own."

[identity profile] eyesofahero.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
That was a face alright.

"No need to add more, then." Some people took it better than others. Cloud? He would have been some piece of work.

"The idea of the island liking things...is disturbing, at least." Did it like dead piranhas? Singing flowers? Someone should be doing a chart right now. "Although", and here he was, thinking outside the box. "An island should get bored easily from time to time."

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"You missed the time when it decided to spend the summer travelling," she said lightly. "We wound up off the shore of a new country every few weeks before coming here to stay."

[identity profile] eyesofahero.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay, so the island also has good ideas. Did the entire island moved on the water...or it teleported?" A giant island-shaped boat was a little hard to imagine.

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh no," she said, laughing a little. "It moved across the water. It tended to happen overnight, though, so who knows how fast we were going exactly."

Though, from some of the distances, their island could haul ass when it wanted to.

[identity profile] eyesofahero.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That was probably a hint of consideration from the island, as it would have surely freaked more than one if it suddenly started to sail through the seas in the middle of the day; unconsidered enough to turn girls into guys and vice verse, but not to get people seasick. Figures.

"Maybe it will do it again sometime?" He surely wanted to be there for that.

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps," she said, smiling slightly. "Th-Though it is unlikely I will be around to see that. It's my last year here."

And where had the time gone?

[identity profile] eyesofahero.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That actually took him by surprise. While he had only thought of leaving for the first week, the idea of leaving leaving had somehow got lost in the process of getting used to Fandom. "So...how long have you been here?" He supposed there was no point in saying something along the lines of 'Sorry to hear that', so he didn't, at least for the moment.

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Now?" Hinata smiled faintly as she took a moment to count the time. "Two and a half years, nearly."
