The Deck [Friday, Evening]
It was that time of year again. One of Effy's favourites, in fact. Who didn't love a cultural excuse to sit in the dark, set shit alight and just sit and watch it burn? Not having fireworks wasn't too big a deal, really. Could still come out and play with flames. That was better than nothing.
So far, she'd not had much trouble with today. That creepy little song she'd broke into earlier? She was stubbornly calling it a fluke.
... And in no way thinking about it too hard while she stared into the fire in the pit front of her.
[[Open, as these things are!]]

"Difference between looking at someone when you're with them, and watching them." It was a very subjective difference.

"You know me. I like that sort of thing." Anything to validate her point.
A moment or two looking at him and she followed his gaze upwards, not quite able to suppress the urge to hum out a tune (http://www.metrolyrics.com/we-own-the-sky-lyrics-m83.html). Fill the quiet.
It was associative. Could've been more embarrassing.
Just wasn't going to mention it. Or, you know, react at all to the fact she'd started singing the words at the end there.

"Good song," he said after a moment. "Nice voice."

"Shouldn't be surprised. You do like when I talk." Singing wasn't exactly a strength. Something about her voice, clearly, that he had a thing about. "Addicted, didn't we figure?"

Yes, yes she did like it. She'd like it even more in a few days, no doubt.

Or, in her case, say imply it, and then prove it by coming in close. "Talking's fine, if you've got the time, but I ain't got the time to spare. Do you want to touch?
Do you want to touch?
Do you want to touch me there, where?"
It was Effy's turn to make a face, even if she didn't move away just yet. Not what she'd intended to go with there. The fuck with this day?

"You wanna microphone?" he teased.

Didn't really mean it. But now she could see her own irritating smugness mirrored. She didn't approve of it half as much when it came from someone else.
