It was finally Thursday! It was finally party time!

And Ariel, not wanting to be a disappointment in carrying the tradition of Atlantican parties onto the land, had gone all out, showing up at the pool as soon as she was finished with Glee Club to get everything set and ready for when the party was going to start. The decorations were slightly insane, and had been...an interesting challenge to put up, but Ariel had managed without falling into the pool too much. And off in an area where the splashing was unlikely to spoil anything, she'd set up a food table with all of her favorite human foods (she was going to do some Atlantican ones, but she'd have to make them herself, and no one wanted that) and a dance floor with a DJ booth for Jono.

How she got all this down here and up was just going to wind up being one of those great mysteries of life, but she knew that hard work and perseverance and obsessive planning had really paid off.

But, of course, it'd be nothing without guests.

"I had a birthday party to plan," Ariel countered with a snicker herself. "No napping at parties, it's a rule. If you nap, you open yourself up to getting a new permanent marker mustache."

"If that doesn't make me stay awake, nothing will. Where's the coffee or highly caffeinated soft drinks?" Scully asked, sitting up straight and blinking hard. "And are you doing anything besides having this party? 17 isn't like 16 or 18. It's just kind of. There."

"But it's one step," Ariel may have relished a bit in that word choice, "closer to eighteen, and eighteen means freedom! And all the drinks are over by the food, there's plenty of it, so help yourself!"

Scully gave her a shrewd look for that, and saluted. "Drinks I shall get. And good luck with that plan of freedom, then. What are you doing after that?"

"I don't know yet," Ariel admitted. "Probably just go adventuring, but I've been thinking a little about marine biology. That could be a lot of fun!"

"That would be pretty interesting, and you're in the right part of the country for it," Scully said, getting off the lounge finally. "Although I hear Florida's even better." She tilted her head. "Well. Aside from hurricanes."

"Hurricanes could be exciting, too, though," Ariel pointed out with a chuckle. "I might have to look into that, though. Florida."

Pronounced, of course, like some strange and exotic land.
