It was finally Thursday! It was finally party time!

And Ariel, not wanting to be a disappointment in carrying the tradition of Atlantican parties onto the land, had gone all out, showing up at the pool as soon as she was finished with Glee Club to get everything set and ready for when the party was going to start. The decorations were slightly insane, and had been...an interesting challenge to put up, but Ariel had managed without falling into the pool too much. And off in an area where the splashing was unlikely to spoil anything, she'd set up a food table with all of her favorite human foods (she was going to do some Atlantican ones, but she'd have to make them herself, and no one wanted that) and a dance floor with a DJ booth for Jono.

How she got all this down here and up was just going to wind up being one of those great mysteries of life, but she knew that hard work and perseverance and obsessive planning had really paid off.

But, of course, it'd be nothing without guests.

"Christian!" And there was Ariel, plopping down next to him beside the edge of the pool so she could go to put a lei around his neck and a kiss on his cheek. "Thank you for coming!"

"Did you really think I'd miss this?" Christian laughed, reaching for a quick hug. "Congratulations. When is your actual birthday?"

"It was yesterday," Ariel said with a nod. "I couldn't have the party then because of play rehearsal, so I had to do it today because I'm going home this weekend..."

She trailed off a little there, since Christian would understand about the complications involved with that.

"Is that going to be all right?" Christian asked anxiously. "Should I plan for a search party if you aren't back on Monday?"

Ariel shook her head, waving a hand. "It'll be fine. It's all part of the thing with me getting to come back to Fandom, is if I go home at least four times a year. If anything, I'll just tell Daddy I have to be back by Tuesday for work, because I have a responsibility to keep."

"And he'll take opening a shop as seriously as he takes everything -- under -- there?"

Vague, or vague as Christian could manage. But quite possibly not vague enough.

"Probably not," Ariel had to admit, sighing slightly. "He'd probably say a princess doesn't have any point working in a shop, but maybe classes will sway him a little more."

"You could tell him you'll run away again if he doesn't let you come back," Christian said. "He'd have to listen to that, wouldn't he?"

"There'd be...a few complications with that," Ariel pointed out, since she wouldn't exactly have legs to run with, but she didn't want to say that outloud. "But I'm pretty sure his letter said just for the weekend, so let's hope so. Daddy might have a temper, but he's pretty true to his word."

Oh. Complications. It was possible Christian hadn't thought through his suggestion all that much. "I'll stop by the shop to see how it went on Tuesday."

The offer made Ariel smile, and she nodded in confirmation. "That'd be nice," she said. "I'll look forward to telling you all about it."
