It was finally Thursday! It was finally party time!

And Ariel, not wanting to be a disappointment in carrying the tradition of Atlantican parties onto the land, had gone all out, showing up at the pool as soon as she was finished with Glee Club to get everything set and ready for when the party was going to start. The decorations were slightly insane, and had been...an interesting challenge to put up, but Ariel had managed without falling into the pool too much. And off in an area where the splashing was unlikely to spoil anything, she'd set up a food table with all of her favorite human foods (she was going to do some Atlantican ones, but she'd have to make them herself, and no one wanted that) and a dance floor with a DJ booth for Jono.

How she got all this down here and up was just going to wind up being one of those great mysteries of life, but she knew that hard work and perseverance and obsessive planning had really paid off.

But, of course, it'd be nothing without guests.

"I wish I had something interesting to say, but it's been all quiet on the McCallister front. I went home last week."

"So you missed out on the..." Elphaba shook her head. "I don't think we should probably talk about that. But you missed a very odd week."

"You say it like that and there's a part of me that really wants to know, but then there's another part that's saying 'don't do it, Jack'."

Elphaba blushed a little. "Many of use were stuck with... amorous feelings for most of the week. Some of us, however, had better control of ourselves than others."

Jack's expression went from raised eyebrows to realization to a silent 'oh really' in succession. "Awkward."

"Very," Elphaba said. "At least, I thought so. I think some people actually enjoyed it."

Jack tried to be diplomatic, but he couldn't help but look amused. "Well, teenagers." He gave a small shrug.

Elphaba rolled her eyes, but she had an amused smile on her face. "I suppose so," she said. "I'm sure you're very sorry you missed out."

"I'm not," he assured her quickly. "Hormones are enough without outside forces getting involved. It sounds like you didn't have a great week because of it."

"It was a... struggle to keep from embarrassing myself," Elphaba said. "But the worst of it was being saddled with a fake child as part of a class assignment."

Jack shook his head. "No one likes that assignment. They made the juniors do it every year at Truman. My old school. I'm glad I got out of it. Which class was this for? So I know not to take it."

"Ethics," Elphaba said. "I'd actually recommend the class, it's very thought-provoking. It's not merely reading or regurgitating information. It makes you evaluate your thoughts and actions."

And Elphaba, she loved that.

"The only down side is the baby assignment."

"Yes," Elphaba said. "Does the idea really deter you all that much?"

She tilted her head, honestly curious.

"No," he admitted. "I helped raise my brother Bobby, so I've done the kid thing."
