It was finally Thursday! It was finally party time!

And Ariel, not wanting to be a disappointment in carrying the tradition of Atlantican parties onto the land, had gone all out, showing up at the pool as soon as she was finished with Glee Club to get everything set and ready for when the party was going to start. The decorations were slightly insane, and had been...an interesting challenge to put up, but Ariel had managed without falling into the pool too much. And off in an area where the splashing was unlikely to spoil anything, she'd set up a food table with all of her favorite human foods (she was going to do some Atlantican ones, but she'd have to make them herself, and no one wanted that) and a dance floor with a DJ booth for Jono.

How she got all this down here and up was just going to wind up being one of those great mysteries of life, but she knew that hard work and perseverance and obsessive planning had really paid off.

But, of course, it'd be nothing without guests.

And being magicked to another land to save your family and castle from a revenge-driven wizard wasn't?

"I see," Alexander said. "It is a shame things could not be easier for you sister..."

"She's a good person," Elphaba said. "I don't think I know anyone who has stronger heart or will than her, if I'm honest."

"There is that, then," Alexander said, finding a smile. "I imagine she must, to have to go through what she had to face regularly."

"I think she'll make a good governor, when the time comes," Elphaba said.

She paused. "But I think we've digressed from the original topic."

"A bit," Alexander agreed, smiling slightly and deciding to keep his curiosity about how someone who needed so much care would make a good governor, but figuring that she would, of course, have assistance. "But I don't terribly mind the digression."

"Or I, really," Elphaba admitted. "I do wish Nessa could come to school here, or at least meet some of my friends. Dana has suggested having her see a doctor here, but it all would require my father letting her come here."

"Do you suppose he might?" Alexander wondered. "Or would he be too concerned about her getting the proper amounts of care here, do you think?"

"I think he sent me here to get rid of me," Elphaba said. "So he's not going send the daughter he loves here as well." She punctuated that with a sigh.

"Oh." Alexander had regained his frown. "I...see. Do you really suppose he meant to get rid of you?"

"If you want that whole story, I probably should share it over ice cream," Elphaba said. Or in Elphaba's case, ice soy cream. "So at least part of the whole time is pleasant."

Alexander nodded slightly. "I should like to hear it," he said, "but only if you would like to tell it. I would eagerly arrange such a situation, but I will also respect your privacy if you do not wish to speak of it much."

"I'm not likely to want to repeat the story over and over," Elphaba said. "But as a friend, I probably should tell it at least once."

"How about this, then?" Alexander proposed. "We could make the engagement to get together for ice cream. If the topic comes up, so be it. If it does not, then we will at least have a pleasant evening. How does that sound?"

"That sounds a lovely idea," Elphaba said. "When would be a good time for you?"

"Perhaps early next week? Monday or Tuesday?"

"I do not have any plans for Monday," Elphaba said. "That would be as fine a day for me as any."

"Monday it is, then," Alexander nodded.
