6th Floor Common Room [Saturday afternoon]

Sookie had spent the better part of the morning ensuring that every balloon was filled, that the food -- thanks Kennedy -- was out, and that the ballpit was available for maximum...ballpittiness.

Shhh.

The cake had taken her awhile (though she'd ordered the penguins rather than made them herself) but overall, she was pretty pleased with it. And hopefully, the birthday boy would also be.

"I hope you do not have to," Raven said. She gave Karla a dreamy little smile. "The physical aspects of love are...wonderful."

Karla began giggling. "You get any lighter, you're going to join the balloons up on the ceiling," she warned with a grin. "Which reminds me. You can probably expect a visit from 'Dite on Tuesday. I sorta let slip about Jono."

Though the goddess probably wouldn't end up threatening him the way Anakin had!

Raven had been facepalming since she'd heard the Thursday night radio broadcast. "I will have to warn him," she said. "I did not think to do so after I spoke to Professor Skywalker on Tuesday, and then I heard about it on the radio." She winced, but she still had a warm feeling at actually having a protective father figure.

Hey, now. Trigon would be happy to threaten to eat any male who laid claim to his daughter, just saying.

Except, you know, Sebastian. That was different. Trigon approved of vampire cultists.

"Hey, she wants to meet Warren," Karla said with a sympathetic smile. "Jono has a little while longer before she's demanding that, I bet."

Trigon had horrible taste in pre-arranged marriages. Raven would rather have a daddy who didn't blow up worlds. Oh, wait....

"Poor Warren," Raven said, shaking her head. "I hope Lady Aphrodite does not frighten him too much."

Anakin was right out.

"She said she wouldn't," Karla said. "She just wanted to, you know, look at him." She waggled her fingers mysteeeeeriously, which somehow had become code for 'using her goddess abilities.'

"I have already done that," Raven protested mildly. "Does she not trust my own abilities?"

"I didn't mention that part," Karla soothed. "Besides, if it makes her feel better, it's not that much to ask. Besides, I want her to meet Warren," she added, ducking her head a bit. "I want everyone to meet him. Not like showing off, exactly, but...yeah."

"Of course," Raven said. "I am only jesting. I know Lady Aphrodite would want to see him for herself."

She smiled as Karla ducked her head. "And you have every right to show him off."

Karla was just going to grin harder there. "He's not like a bauble or something," she protested. Still grinning. "But doesn't he look wonderful on my arm?" she added.

"He makes you happy," Raven said wisely. "And people will want to know why." She had a sudden thought and asked, "Do your family back home know your intentions? Is their blessing required?" She hoped not, since she didn't want another uncomfortable scene with Saetan, Lucivar, and Morton so soon.

Yeah, Karla had been trying to figure out what to do about that, too. "They're blessing is not required," she said, her chin tilting up just a tad. "Nor is their blessing. I have no parents, am sworn to no one, and no one is sworn to me."

Aaaand a minute later she deflated. "I was thinking about sending them a letter to late for them to do anything?"

Brilliant plan, Your Majesty.

"Then it is your decision and yours alone," Raven said. Well, except for the other people involved, that was. "If you think they might attempt to interfere at all, then it is best you tell them after the fact."

Raven was going to be the most supportive court healer ever. Unless Karla was running herself into the ground, of course.

"'Dite wants me to get approval from someone at home. I explained that I didn't think I could. I'm too young. Most witches don't have their Virgin Nights till they're twenty. I'm not even seventeen yet. There's no way I can get someone to agree to that."

Maybe Jaenelle? Hopefully?

The men at Briarwood didn't care about waiting until the girls there were twenty, Raven was tempted to point out, but she bit that back. "They are concerned for your safety yet wish to adhere to the customs of your world," she said instead. "But this is your choice to make, and if you feel you are ready, then you can inform them after the fact if it indeed their business at all."

She suspected that if anyone would support her, Jaenelle would, after what she'd suffered so young. She'd want that threat taken away from Karla.
