6th Floor Common Room [Saturday afternoon]

Sookie had spent the better part of the morning ensuring that every balloon was filled, that the food -- thanks Kennedy -- was out, and that the ballpit was available for maximum...ballpittiness.

Shhh.

The cake had taken her awhile (though she'd ordered the penguins rather than made them herself) but overall, she was pretty pleased with it. And hopefully, the birthday boy would also be.

"I heard about that," Quinn nodded. "I hope I never get stuck as ... not myself. I'd go insane."

"You didn't turn into anything odd on--" What was it again? "--Halloween?"

"No," Quinn lied, then relented. "Okay, so I was a sex-crazed alien maid, but it was only for a couple hours. I didn't do anything. What were you?"

"A prince who kept leaping about on rooftops and riding dragons." While shouting 'YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!' a lot.

"Please tell me no one had to be the dragon."

Quinn was fully prepared to shudder.

"...I think it was an island thing again." It was Zack. Totally Zack.

Good thing Quinn wasn't interested enough to pursue that detail.

"Remind me why we stay here," she requested.

She'd be saying that a lot louder in a week or so.

Maladicta had to give that some thought. "Friendly company?"

Well, that earned a smile. "And the fact it's, occasionally, a little less depressing and infuriating than home is."

Meaning she'd heard Finn was seeing Rachel all but officially now.

"Oh?" Do go on, Quinn. GIRL TALK.

"Finn is of the opinion kissing guys at school is cheating, even if it's just a kissing booth," Quinn explained, with a huge sigh, as if he didn't totally have a point. "So now we're over, and he's dating an egotistical midget with man hands."

GIRL TALK, yes.

"You could always kick this midget," Maladicta replied. "I'm sure it would be amusing."

"I think a lot of people would give me a medal for that," Quinn mused, seeming pleased by the mental image. "Don't tempt me."

"I'd pay to see it."

And this was why Maladicta was bad these things.

"And now you're tempting me to go back to Lima and take care of things," Quinn said. "Don't, because I will."

"It's not like she's tall enough to hit back." A beat. "Unless she's a Dwarf. Then you should worry about an ax being thrown at you."

"I don't think she travels with an axe," Quinn said doubtfully.

She was trying to decide if she should let Maladicta know she didn't mean a literal midget, and decided against it. It wasn't like Maladicta and Rachel were ever going to meet. (Okay, unless Rachel came to school in Fandom, and that would be so many other issues Quinn couldn't count them.)

"But I guess you can never be too careful. She might be deranged."

Rachel might cry upon meeting her first vampire, yes...

"Well, at least you won't have to see them here."

"Which is why I'm happy to be back," Quinn nodded firmly. "So how have you been?"

"Well, after that strange holiday, I think most people are lying low. Too much turkey, I think."

"It always makes me sleepy," Quinn confirmed. "But ... yeah. Quiet week all around."
