Fifth Floor Common Room [Sunday morning]

After so many requests for pancakes from her own children yesterday morning, Sookie figured that might be a theme for the weekend. And when she woke up, and Henry wasn't gone, at least, she'd run out to get a few supplies before returning to the common room to see what she could put together. (Though, of course, Henry had insisted on coming with her once he realized she was Going to the Store and he might Get Stuff.)

It clearly just wasn't her own children she was worried about, here, Drake/di Glacia/Stackhouse appetites aside. Sookie had bought enough things to make breakfast for pretty much any kids (and parents) who showed up. She was setting to work on the pancakes, but in other pans she was busily scrambling eggs and frying up some bacon. She'd also made a point to buy orange and apple juice and milk both chocolate and white, because there was no way in hell she was letting more of those kids just drink coffee. She didn't care if it was for a weekend, it was just irresponsible.

[open common room! come have breakfast!]

"Annika Priest," Annika answered, matter-of-factly. "You're going to be my Aunt Sookie. Emma Frost is my mother."

Her parents were aware their last names sounded rather intensely stupid hyphenated, but Annika had still been trained to explain who her mother was very early in conversations. Sometimes, it mattered.

"Can I have two pancakes and some eggs, please?"

"I was here last year," Annika explained. "I like it better this year. Last year Mom and Dad had more other children."

She peered over at Henry. "Hi! Who's your daddy?"

Henry pointed at Bobby. "That's my daddy. And my mama is over there," he added, pointing at Sookie, because he was a master of stating the obvious. "My sister came to visit last year! But it was my turn this time."

"I don't have brothers or sisters," Annika explained, gratefully. She didn't like to share. "So it's my turn every year."

"You look more like your daddy," she decided.

"Mama says I got her curls," Henry said, patting his head. "You look like Auntie Emma," he added helpfully. And in a whisper (sort of -- he was five) he continued, "I think she's my prettiest aunt. Don't tell Auntie Karla!"

"My mom's about the prettiest person in the world," Annika said loyally. "But I bet Auntie Karla would get sad if we told her that. Your mom's pretty too, though!"

"My mama's the prettiest lady ever, and your mom is my prettiest aunt," Henry decided. "And then Auntie Karla and Auntie Raven are tied!"

"And Auntie Kate," Annika chipped in loyally. "But sometimes dad says she's a bad influence."

Thanks for that, Jack. Truly.

"My mama says that about my Uncle Jason," he agreed. "He's Mama's brother!"

...with all these 'aunts' and 'uncles' around, it was important to clarify.

"My mom has two sisters," Annika said. "But we don't see them much, so they don't really count as family."

Actually, Emma's language about Cordelia and Adrienne was a bit stronger than that.

"I like my pretend-aunts better."
