Third Floor Common Room, Sunday Afternoon

After a somewhat stressful week, Kate had actually managed to have a pretty pleasant weekend. (A handwavy one-month anniversary could do that to a girl.) She was relaxed and something approaching happy, so today was the perfect day to devote to third floor party planning. Which was good since, you know, she hadn't actually done a lot of it yet. She'd decided the date would be next Friday, sure, but other than that... She had ideas. They just hadn't quite come together yet.

So she was in the common room, absently eating candy while sitting on a couch with her feet propped up on the edge of a coffee table and her MacBook in her lap. In no way waiting to pounce on innocent passers-by to pester them for ideas. No sir.

"Well, I'm having no luck suggesting ideas to you so I thought I'd do something I might be good at," he said and chuckled. "Perhaps it will help you think of something stupendous."

"Your talents just lie in other things, not party planning," she assured him, smiling briefly. "I don't know, I might skip on an actual theme altogether. Just... make it a party, you know?"

"I don't think the actual party will suffer," he said, leaning closer and kissing her cheek. "I doubt, once the party starts, people will even remember the theme. They'll just want to enjoy themselves."

"And if I get enough mead and other kinds of party liquids, that should not be an issue," Kate replied, sighing softly at the kiss. "I think the main thing is gonna be meeting new people, anyway."

"Where are you planning on holding this party?" he asked curiously. "Not in the dormitories, I hope? The mead might be a problem."

"I know," she replied, sticking her bottom lip out a bit. "That's one of the undecided things. I mean, the mead might be a problem most places."

"Oh, don't pout," he said and kissed her lower lip lightly. "I would think as long as no one gets rowdy and destructive, you should be able to have mead in town somewhere. What if you held it in the bar?"

Kate caught another light kiss from him before answering. "But I don't wanna have a party at the bar," she whined, though it was quiet and somewhat light. "That's not a party, that's a night at the bar."

"All right, it was just a suggestion," he said soothingly. "Did you want to have it outside or inside?"

"I don't know, I mean, I'm still dreaming of a beach party," she replied, leaning her head against his shoulder with a sigh. "Except, y'know. Iceland ruins that. And I don't know if the beach is any better if I start worrying about mead or other booze being okay."

"You're going to stress yourself out far too much about something that should be fun," Bod said, reaching to drop another kiss on top of her head. "Relax."

"I'm not stressing out." Yet. She'd like to think so, anyway. "Anyway, you're the one pointing out having the party in the dorms might not be a good idea."

It was kind of a non-serious, half mumbled accusation.

"I don't want you to get in trouble," he replied quietly, shrugging. "Alcohol in the dorms seems like it would get you into trouble."

"I've been in worse trouble," she retorted lightly. "But I'll take that into account, anyway. Would be awful if you had to pine for me while I served my delightfully adult detention."

"Is there such a thing as adult detention?" Bod asked curiously.

"I have no idea," Kate admitted. "I was trying to use that sarcastically. I don't know whether they can even assign me detention since I'm technically not a student anymore."

[therewaslife]

"Well, they could arrest you," he pointed out and smiled. "So, I'd have to pine for you while you were waiting to be bailed out with someone who has far more money than me."

She snorted. "Just how much money are you expecting my bail to be, exactly? 'Cause I don't think that'd be a major offence, even here."

"I don't know," he laughed, shrugging. "A lot of money? Millions of dollars?"

"For having some alcohol in the dorms?" Kate asked, snickering. "Are you sure this isn't just some fantasy where you want to be dating a criminal?"

"Who says I have a fantasy like that?" Bod asked, laughing. "I have no such fantasies. You're devious enough for me."

"Well, I would rather think it was a fantasy than that you'd think they'd set my bail at millions of dollars if I threw a dorm party with some mead," Kate teased.

[therewaslife]

"That'd be a rather boring fantasy on my part, wouldn't it?" Bod asked, chuckling. "I'd be really dull."

[vanillajello]

"No," Kate said, though she wasn't surprised he'd think like that. "'Cause it'd be just the setup for the actual fantasy, y'know?"

"Yes, but the actual fantasy would be me bailing you out of jail with money," Bod pointed out, shrugging. "That doesn't sound like a very imaginative fantasy, does it? I should be slightly more creative."
