Rock Band Party, Tuesday Evening, First Floor Rec Room

Karla and Warren had celebrated their return to their proper forms in the way that many teenagers would find appropriate: they'd headed back to the modern mainland, found a toy store, and bought a gaming system (or three). Along with the games they bought to go along with said system, they also picked up a few guitars, a keyboard, a drum set, and two microphones.

Once back in the rec room, the rest of the afternoon had been spent setting up the systems and buying every single song available for the game. Waiting for them to finish downloading actually took longer than the initial setting up, even taking in Karla's attempts to 'help'.

But now the system was set up, the songs were ready, and the instruments prepared.

[Open for anyone who wants to play. [livejournal.com profile] not_a_parakeet modded to an ungodly degree with permission! Just a warning about SP and Karla's threads--I will be AFK all day, but if you're willing to wait until Thursday that's fine by me.]

"I'd probably have to spend more time in the room to say for sure there," Tony admitted sheepishly.

A little Pepto? No, no, Warren had been drinking it like soda pop while he worked through the cupcakes that night, after Karla had gone to sleep.

There had been orders for delivery on the stuff.

"Right. Drums." Well, whatever was going to happen, at least all Warren had to worry about was hitting things with sticks.

"Let's see what we've got!" Marshall exclaimed, turning to the game and scrolling through available songs. "Ooooh, 80s stuff. What about... Ooh! 70s! Heroes, David Bowie?"

"No laughing," Alexander even set down the cat so that he could lift both hands in a show of honest and trustworthiness.

Although, really, once Warren got started, that promise became a bit more of a challenge that Alexander would have anticipated.

"No way," Warren laughed. "If I'm singing, you're singing with me. Someone who knows they can carry a tune better be working the mic."

So there!

[identity profile] daventryprince.livejournal.com 2011-07-13 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
That definitely got a laugh, as well as compounded Quinn's point. "Fair enough," he said, "but so am I, so there you have it. I did actually get a chance to use it with someone other than Scully the other day, so who knows? Mother might actually be right."

Beaming, Miley put on one of her favorites (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szxdGgFQ_ds). With the mic in one hand and her other hand tapping out the beat on her hip, she launched into the song.

Perfectly, of course, though that was wasted on Warren.

"Life is just a party so come as you are! Dress it up or dress it down, don't forget your guitar..."

"That's fine," Warren promised. "Neither am I."

His pants were going to stay on, too!

The shirt was debatable, however, because this was Warren, and this was his other-other superpower at stake, after all.

Mocking hiiiiim. He'd have his vengeance on this game. Oh, he would.

Tony sighed, praying Karla wasn't filming this. "Fine."

"Watch, point at, and laugh?" Warren knew how these spectator sports went! "I've never, ever done this before. So watching might be wisest. It means you can get to the door to escape the racket faster than anyone in the band."

"Uh, I don't know if that would be such a good idea," Billy said awkwardly. "I was going to watch and cheer you guys on from the nice, safe sidelines."

"They won't expect us to sing, there, will they?"

He had to be sure. Really, really sure.

"Yay!" Miley clapped her hands in delight. Because that was something she did. "Okay, so your song first, of course."

YOU'RE WELCOME, TONY. Hopefully the TV's hatred of rich kids didn't extend to Rock Band. If it did, it might just launch into an even better song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DwT_2QQU64)!

"Sookie," she said with a little wave. "Yeah. It took me a little while, but half my best friends and my boyfriend are from New York -- the ones who are even from Earth. Don't stop people from mockin' my accent all the time, though."

[identity profile] ostianbelle.livejournal.com 2011-07-13 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Asuna laughed at the enthusiastic welcome, "It's good to see you too! How're you?"

[identity profile] its-theclimb.livejournal.com 2011-07-13 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
"That's no fun!" she exclaimed. "Come on and sing! I promise, there's no pressure. Everyone's totally here for fun. No judging."

Poor, poor Billy. Just another victim of the relentless Disney Miley enthusiasm.

<< You heard me, >> she replied, shaking her head. << She asked me to talk to you for her. Be nice. Actually talk to her. Try and forgive. Warren has. *I* have. Please? >>

"That's me," Warren noted, missing a couple more words somewhere in the process, "totally hardcore."

The game was not exactly pleased with him for this, and in response to the hurting that his score was doing, he kind of blinked up and spat out the next few lines, a little too quickly.

"Everybody in the place hit the fucking deck, but stay on your mother-Really?"

He was so rocking this number.

"Oh, I know they do!" said Butters, eagerly hopping up to pull out the song menu. "I play it all the time."

And so in a matter of minutes, Butters was treating the common room to a little performance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkkbKRrt6dQ).

You can thank his canon.

"Dance, mostly," Sookie said with a little smile. "My people ain't big on the singing."

"I could probably fake some Bowie," Warren decided, after a moment.

So, Bowie was probably the stuff that his dad would have listened to. If his dad had ever been the sort to listen to music at all. It was a name that he'd heard before, so he was going on good faith that this meant that he could either fake it, or that maybe he'd actually heard the song somewhere and had just forgotten the title.
