Rock Band Party, Tuesday Evening, First Floor Rec Room

Karla and Warren had celebrated their return to their proper forms in the way that many teenagers would find appropriate: they'd headed back to the modern mainland, found a toy store, and bought a gaming system (or three). Along with the games they bought to go along with said system, they also picked up a few guitars, a keyboard, a drum set, and two microphones.

Once back in the rec room, the rest of the afternoon had been spent setting up the systems and buying every single song available for the game. Waiting for them to finish downloading actually took longer than the initial setting up, even taking in Karla's attempts to 'help'.

But now the system was set up, the songs were ready, and the instruments prepared.

[Open for anyone who wants to play. [livejournal.com profile] not_a_parakeet modded to an ungodly degree with permission! Just a warning about SP and Karla's threads--I will be AFK all day, but if you're willing to wait until Thursday that's fine by me.]

Sigh. This was the Surreal situation all over again.

"No, no. I mean, yes!" Oh, Miley, what did you mean? "A country is a territory. But it's also a type of music that's popular in rural areas. Here, I can play you one of her songs on this thing if you want."

"Totally!"

And Miley being Hannah Miley Hannah Miley, she knew right off the bat which song to pick.

"Here, let's try this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kGeEHFIIss) one," she offered, scrolling down on the screen until she found one that (apparently (http://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtdVPE.asp?ppn=MN0060302)) could be played on the piano. "You ready?"

At least it wasn't the Bone Dance, Karla.

Well, at least if Karla wasn't familiar with Hannah Montana, then Miley didn't have to worry about being too similar to the original! That was a good thing.

Without even looking at the screen (because why would she have to? These were her own lyrics, duh), she launched into the song. Perfectly, of course.

Someone who didn't listen to her singing? SCANDALOUS.

Although? It felt really good to sing after more than a week without practice. She was going to have to see if there were practice rooms at this school or something, because this was the first time in years she'd gone so long without rehearsing.

"See, you're getting it!" she encouraged Karla at an instrumental break. And ignoring the curses, because Disney girls didn't hear such things. "Fun, right?"

That was a fair point, Karla! It really was [words excised for Disney viewers] and then some! Not to mention [words excised for Disney viewers]!

"You're doing, like, a way better job than some people I know," she made sure to praise Karla. Because it was good to make other people feel validated. Yes. "And the song's super catchy, so that probably helps."

...What? She could pat her own back from time to time.

Oh. Right. Did normal people not remember complex strings of intellectually-stimulating lyrics like "I might even be a rock star"?

"Yeah, pretty much," Miley laughed, shrugging one shoulder. "Like I said, I'm a really big fan. I'm not as good as she is, 'course, but I try."

Big, big smile.

Whew. That was close.

The plan to sing karaoke to her own songs, in front of a big crowd of people, was maaaaybe not so bright. But it was singing! In front of a crowd! That was her favorite thing! There was no reason to be practical when there was music to be made!

"Riiight," Miley said, giving Karla a little thumbs-up. Because that had been one scary moment just then.

"So, um. Wanna try something else?"

"Alright, sure! Except you choose the song this time," Miley offered magnanimously.

See, she could be less self-absorbed sometimes.

[Meh, don't worry about it. Have fun at Six Flags!]
