The Roof, Late Saturday Morning

Fall was coming, Karolina could feel it. She wasn't sure how she felt about it, the whole idea of fall on the east coast, though she supposed she was going to take it as it came. No use fighting the seasons.

Still, she'd taken her glorious breakfast of a Pop-Tart up on the roof this morning, sitting on the ledge and looking out over the town. The day was mostly cloudy, but even with just a little sun coming through every once in a while, she was happy enough. Recharging.

And after hesitating and fidgeting a while, she even took off her bracelet. There was no one else on the roof. She could let her true colors show – if that's what they were, the shimmery yellow and pink and blue. She wasn't sure yet.

But it did still feel nice to be out in the open air.

[ooc: Open, omg!]

"I can't even tell why some of them think it's appropriate to make jokes about certain topics," Liara admitted. ... She'd always had that problem, but the asari were, if in possession of more of a sense of humor than she was most of the time, a bit more serious than the humans she'd encountered so far. "But it's not terribly important."

She dropped her arms on the railing. "How have you been?" she attempted.

"Astro science," Liara echoed. "That's Commander Alenko's class, isn't it?"
fewer_explosions: (???: science!)

"He is from my... universe," Liara settled on. The terminology still didn't sound right. "But several decades into the future. He seems to know me, but I don't know him. It's... confusing."

Liara looked up at her. "How do you deal with him?" she wondered.

"Part of me wants to ask Commander Alenko to take me back with him," Liara admitted. "At least so I can see if I can't find the artifact that brought me here in my time." She hesitated briefly before adding, "I don't know if we are friends in his time. He's... reserved."

"I don't know," Liara said. "It... would be easier if there had been studies. It would be rather unpleasant if my going there would somehow cause the universe to implode."

Yes. Unpleasant.

"I don't know," Liara said -- honestly. "I can't really argue against knowledge. If our past can teach us so much about what the future should be, then our future-past should be nothing but educational, shouldn't it?"

Liara was... kind of a scientist down to the core. She may have had more trouble processing the idea of knowledge being at all harmful than she did processing the existence of humans as a species.

"That's fair," she offered, though she couldn't quite wrap her head around that one either. "Goddess, I just wish there were studies. You would think someone would have looked into this before us."
