3rd Floor Common Room | Friday Evening

Stiles didn't have any plans for the evening which was on par for a Stilinski Friday night. He was still trying to avoid going into town so his entertainment options were relegated to watching porn in his room or watching something that wasn't porn in the common room. Well actually he could do both, since watching porn didn't take all night. But he did eventually end up in the common room, watching a horror movie about frat boys who piss off an irradiated grizzly bear.

It was about as horrible as it sounded. Which would explain why Stiles was more focused on the (surprisingly unburnt!) popcorn he had made and answering the barrage of texts he kept getting.

"Tony," he replied. "Uh... the scaly, extinct kind?"

Tony shrugged. "I was more into robots as a kid. Never did the dinosaur phase."

And never got out of the robot phase either.

Yeah, it was a good thing they weren't exchanging last names. Gert was not the world's biggest fan of the Tony Stark back home.

As it was, though, she just smirked a little. "I saw a movie on SyFy two nights ago where they competed," she shared. "The dinosaurs won."

"That's because they were poorly made." Tony. Tony, really.

"That's what happens when you overload something with weapons that wasn't mechanically stable in the first place," Gert agreed. "The engineers were probably about as smart as these idiots."

She nodded toward the TV, where a frat guy was trying to ward off a bear with a red Solo cup.

"...I don't think they could manage to make a robot," Tony replied, tilting his head at the movie. The bear was never actually on screen at the same time as the actors. Because of reasons. Poorly, poorly made reasons. "At least not with those cups."

Why you gotta be like that, Tony? This movie was classy as hell.

"I wouldn't be so sure," Gert replied. "Put a bunch of those cups on a toy truck and it would be about as secure as some of the things that try to blow up New York every other week."

This was not an engineer's perspective.

"If that was true, pretty sure SHIELD would have a much easier time," Tony ventured. Because this was starting to sound kind of familiar.

"They seem to have an easy enough time already," Gert groused. "Throw money and some guy in a mask at it and problem solved."

Gert, no.

"SHIELD," Gert said. "Their problem-solving tactics. Some oversized kid playing dress-up and a big check for the damage. How hard is that to take care of?"

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2013-01-12 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Wow, that is very different from the one I know. They hate vigilantes." No, they hated you, Tony.

Gert narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "What do they do, then? Solve their problems like reasonable people?" GASP.

"Arrest them?" After Iron Man beats them down.

"Yeah, well, whatever world you're from obviously has more common sense in that organization than in mine," Gert concluded. "Where I'm from, they're hypocrites who make headlines by being irresponsible."

Really, Gert? Really?

"Well." A beat. "Depends on the paper?"

"I wish." Whatever that meant. "But anyway, I have to admit it'd be kind of interesting to see them fight off a plastic cup robot. I'd go to New York to watch that."

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2013-01-12 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
"It would end up all over CNN, no need to go anywhere," Tony pointed out.

"Even better," Gert decided. "Good point."

"I'm a thinker like that."

"So where're you from?" Look, Tony couldn't expect her to just watch this movie and not talk through it. That would be cruel. "Besides 'somewhere similar to my world except with smarter adults.'"
