3rd Floor Common Room | Friday Evening

Stiles didn't have any plans for the evening which was on par for a Stilinski Friday night. He was still trying to avoid going into town so his entertainment options were relegated to watching porn in his room or watching something that wasn't porn in the common room. Well actually he could do both, since watching porn didn't take all night. But he did eventually end up in the common room, watching a horror movie about frat boys who piss off an irradiated grizzly bear.

It was about as horrible as it sounded. Which would explain why Stiles was more focused on the (surprisingly unburnt!) popcorn he had made and answering the barrage of texts he kept getting.

"Is this what people do Friday nights here?" Bay asked, as she claimed a seat on the couch. "... and is that a bear?"

"This is what Stiles does on Friday nights." Normal teenagers probably went out, had dates, didn't get into awkward fake relationships with werewolves. "And yes. An irradiated bear."

"Oh, of course," Bay nodded. "'Cause making a movie about a normal bear would just be silly."

Nope, she still wasn't a sci-fi fan.

"So ... I'm guessing Stiles is your name? I'm Bay."

"Nice to meet you," he said with a little wave. "Interesting name. I can relate."

"I know," Bay said, rolling her eyes a little. "It's supposed to be bay like a tree, not bay like a body of water. My brother got Toby, but apparently Mom was feeling much more 'creative' when I was born."

Not that she disliked it.

"What's the story with Stiles?"

"Named after my grandfather," Stiles said. "His name wasn't Stiles though. Stiles is a nickname. My actual name can't be pronounced. Literally, it's not like some Rumpelstiltskin thing where I'll burst into flames if someone says it."

Bay wrinkled her nose sympathetically. "See, that makes me feel like I got off easy. "

"Oh you did," Stiles said with a nod. "People have told me my name counts as child abuse."

"I'll be kind and not make you say it for me," Bay decided, then got distracted by the TV. "Oh, now I can see how we know it's irradiated. Nice glow FX."

"Yeah that's literally the only way you know it's irradiated," Stiles said. "It just acts like a regular pissed off bear most of the time."

"I'm sure it could be worse."

But Emily was soon doubting that, so she also shrugged as she offered a small smile. "I mean, somehow?"

Bay snorted. "It could be a TV that only got ~~meta~~ Full House reruns?"

"Now that's something I don't need to see more than once every solar eclipse." Sickeningly cute family times? Pass. "Let's be honest here though; America's TV runs on reruns, weird as it sounds."

She stopped for a moment before shrugging again. "And reality shows but those don't count."

"And infomercials," Bay added. "But at least those are funny, 'cause you can mock the people who can't figure out how to boil water or whatever."

Emily snorted. "I think informecials were the reason why zapping started to happen. I mean, I don't even want to know about the German knives set that never loses their sharpness once, I'm not going through it seven hundred times. Or that guy with the towel thingy."

Bay mock-shuddered. "We could go back to our rooms," she said. "But .... then I'd have to find something else to do."

"I would offer nail polishing and hair braiding, but currently I can barely make myself look presentable." And just for clarification, Emily looked stunning.

"Besides, the bear might eat someone on camera."

Bay rolled her eyes a little bit at Emily's put-down of her own looks. She knew that game from Buckner, and had decided not to play a long time ago.

"I'll keep watching in hopes of carnage," she decided. "I'm Bay, by the way. I think we have class together."

The thing nobody -sans Karina, perhaps- knew was that Emily currently needed like a good solid hour to look like she did. Lots of years not having to dress up were making her life hell now that she needed to look proper.

"We can always hope for carnage, even if it's terribly acted," said as she offered a quick handshake, because why not. "Emily, and yes, I think we do...?" And God help her she couldn't remember which one.

"I have sex ed, industrial arts and feminism?" Bay suggested. "So ... probably one of those. Or ... I guess I might have just seen you around."

"I'm not in any of those so...just around I think." Which was sad, because Bay looked like the kind of person Emily could share some serious snark. "But hey, know that we know each other we can hang out or something. Probably plan for next term, although this place has a thing with signing people up for laughs, apparently.

[ Don't worry! Now I would wish they did have a class in common; I foolishly thought I could only see the pilot of Switched at Birth but by now I'm at episode 12/weak willed. ]

"See, I heard people say that but I picked all of mine," Bay answered. "Except I thought industrial arts was going to be, like, sculpture and stuff."

It was not, and this was tragic.

[OOC: It is an addictive show that way. That's pretty much how I ended up apping Bay :-).]

"I didn't pick any. Well, my tutor did, which is less weird than the people who apparently end up in classes they would never sign for." Not that she would sign for Friendship 101 ever. "And it's not?"

[ ooc: It's like omg happy, and then it gives you sads, and then it makes you happen. And then sads. I can't stop. ]

"It's shop," Bay said woefully. "Building stuff. Which I totally respect, but ... I'm an artist, not a mechanic."

Emily made a face. It felt appropriate even if she would probably enjoy it. "An artist huh? I wish I had a hobby like that."
