3rd Floor Common Room | Friday Evening

Stiles didn't have any plans for the evening which was on par for a Stilinski Friday night. He was still trying to avoid going into town so his entertainment options were relegated to watching porn in his room or watching something that wasn't porn in the common room. Well actually he could do both, since watching porn didn't take all night. But he did eventually end up in the common room, watching a horror movie about frat boys who piss off an irradiated grizzly bear.

It was about as horrible as it sounded. Which would explain why Stiles was more focused on the (surprisingly unburnt!) popcorn he had made and answering the barrage of texts he kept getting.

"Hey, Tony. I don't know town yet," Bay admitted. "I was out a couple nights ago, but I just found some weird girl in spandex who said she was a superhero."

Her voice held a tone of incredulity at the fact that was a thing people did here.

"But, so your folks own a place here?" she checked. "I guess that's cool."

Tony cleared his throat, squinting at the TV for a moment. "Yeah, you get used to that."

SAID THE BILLIONAIRE, CRIME-FIGHTING TEENAGER.

"Uh, technically I own it, actually."

Bay looked away from the frat boy spraying beer from a keg and onto the bear at that. "It's actually yours, or your parents gave it to you to make a point about responsibility or something?"

Her old school was full of rich kids, so somebody owning a business was not that weird to her.

"And, uh, what does it do?"

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2013-01-12 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Tony snorted at the responsibility thing, shaking his head. "Mostly repairs, but whatever people feel like doing, mostly. I think of it as research and development practice. I've been in the family business since I was about eight."

"Oh, that's actually cool," Bay said, new respect in her voice. "My dad owns car washes. I have to help out sometimes, but..."

She shrugged. Car wash management was not exactly a life goal.

"But, so you make techie stuff?"

"Mostly!" he replied brightly. "I'm kinda working on a new satellite system for the company for after I graduate."
justbeingbay: ([neu] what about me?)

[personal profile] justbeingbay 2013-01-12 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Satellites?" Bay blinked. "That ... is so far beyond anything anybody I know has done, wow."

That got a dismissive shrug like it wasn't that big of a deal. "I've been doing that kind of work since I was a kid. But there's a bunch of people like that here. It's like MENSA sometimes."

"Greaaaaaat," Bay said, sinking deeper into the couch. "I was going to turn over a new leaf here, right? I was going to do my homework and not get C's and maybe stay out of the bottom tenth of my class. And I walked into freaking Mensa."

Because clearly other people were smart to spite Bay.

Tony snorted again. "I don't think anyone can compare themselves to their classmates here. Since some people are't even from places with indoor plumbing."

"And suddenly I am very grateful to be from Kansas City," Bay reported. "It's dull, but toilets are not a problem."
