Camelot Castle Campfire, Saturday Morning

It was not every day that Envy Adams found herself waking up in a bouncy castle. In fact, it had been around two decades since she'd last done it. And yet here she was. And admittedly, she'd felt far more dignified in her life than she did when she was clambering out of the plastic monstrosity, but her grace stats were pretty high by now. She looked fine.

And then she stood outside the castle, by the firepit, looking around while her not particularly cheap designer heels were digging into the ground a little bit. Fandom. Couldn't just let people come back for a high school reunion without messing with them, could it? Of course not.

Even after all this time, it felt kind of like coming home. If in a way that was somehow a little bittersweet.

"You know, I have interdimensional teleportation technology available at the drop of a hat. Actually, no hat needed. It could stay on your head or never be bought, it doesn't matter. I could literally get to any location in the multiverse in just a few minutes," Jessica complained as she walked up to the first person she saw outside of the bouncy castles. Sorry, Envy, you were getting the rant. "And instead of that, I end up here half a day earlier than planned in a bouncy castle because that makes all kinds of sense, why not? Hi. How's it going?"

Envy had had a lot of people rant at her over the years. Luckily her character had mellowed enough that she had other reactions available than just an icy glance. Like... a milder look over. A less sharp raise of her brow.

"It's Fandom, sweetie," she said. "You should've seen it coming."

"I knew it was possible. That doesn't make it less annoying," Jessica said as she slipped her SHIELD communicator into her ear. She needed to know if there were any emergencies going on before she could actually get comfortable here this morning. "The bouncy castle really doesn't make it less annoying."

"It would be karking wrong to shoot the karking bouncy castles, right?" Cade demanded, stomping up to the fire.

"And I'm supposed to care about that?"

Ah, yes, there came the reason Envy had maybe once or twice told annoying upstart producers to mind their own karking business. That word just stuck with you, you know?

And it made for priceless looks from people.

She looked half amused. "Yes, if you don't want to pay for damaging the property of a school you haven't gone to in two decades."

"Since I guess I'm old to be sent to detention," Cade agreed, flopping onto the ground. "Don't suppose there's any kaf around here?"

"Good old reliable Cade," Jessica said. "I knew I could count on you to be in a worse mood than me about the stupid castles."

"Hey, Jess," Cade said, smiling back a little. "You know me: I karking love to be reliable."

"I'd look the other way if you wanted to try it," Gert said. "Figuratively. I'd probably want to watch the deflating."

"It would probably be pretty interesting," Cade said, glancing around. "There are so many ugly ones. Which should we kill first? I vote clown."

"Why the castles?" Gert wanted to know, stomping over to a log. Ow, the backache. "Are they somehow representative of our time here? I would've just had us stay the night in the dorms."

"There are probably people in the dorms," Jessica said. "I'm wondering why we couldn't just go to the hotel."

"Or better yet, make this a one-day thing instead of a whole weekend," Gert said. "No sleeping arrangements necessary."

"Fandom's idea of 'funny'."

All the years hadn't killed Envy's ability to be succinct.

Gert made an irritated noise. "Are you having the 'why the hell did I turn up for this thing' yet?"

Peter had gotten up, sighed, rolled his eyes, wandered around-- and homed in on the one face that was somewhat familiar. He was mildly annoyed, but not as much as he could have been; years of Fandom had taught him that that reunion invitation he'd discarded might come back to bite him in the ass anyway.

"Now this looks... homey," he commented, hands stuck into the pockets of a suit that was far too expensive to have spent the morning pressed into a bouncy castle.

Envy's glance over was openly amused. "Explains why you're sticking out like a sore thumb then, dollface."

What? What was the fun in knowing a Hegemon since high school if you couldn't call him inappropriate names? Never mind that her comment was a pot-kettle thing. Her designer outfit had probably cost a small fortune.

"Ah, look who rolled out of a pile of bargain Gucci this morning," Peter greeted back, because honestly, what was the fun in knowing Envy Adams since high school if you couldn't be bitchy right back? None, that was what.

"If this is homey, then I fear your home," Jessica joked.

"It looks like this, but it's about a hundred times as large and made of stone," Peter said casually.

There were times Sia missed this place, and other times she really didn't. When you were an empress who got to start her morning in a bouncy castle, it tended to be one of those other times.

Still, she knew how things like this tended to work, so she made her way out to look for other people. Because then she could say things like, "Oh good, it's not just me."

"Isn't it a Fandom rule that it's rarely just you?" Envy wondered with a barely raised eyebrow. "Welcome to Fandom's idea of getting people into a reunion spirit."

By making them all a little wary of the island's antics, just like old times.

"I'd prefer they'd have just sent an invitation," Sia said wryly, finding a seat.

"Are you sure? We could be figments of your imagination after you inhaled too many plastic fumes," Jessica pointed out.

"If I was going to have hallucinations in Fandom, they'd probably be due to gremlin bites, not plastic fumes," Sia pointed out.

And maybe glanced around for tiny green things out of habit.
