Camelot Castle Campfire, Saturday Morning

It was not every day that Envy Adams found herself waking up in a bouncy castle. In fact, it had been around two decades since she'd last done it. And yet here she was. And admittedly, she'd felt far more dignified in her life than she did when she was clambering out of the plastic monstrosity, but her grace stats were pretty high by now. She looked fine.

And then she stood outside the castle, by the firepit, looking around while her not particularly cheap designer heels were digging into the ground a little bit. Fandom. Couldn't just let people come back for a high school reunion without messing with them, could it? Of course not.

Even after all this time, it felt kind of like coming home. If in a way that was somehow a little bittersweet.

"Thank you for the jinx," Sia told her. "I'm sure I speak for all of us here when I say we appreciate that."

She didn't appreciate that. Empresses don't hallucinate... all right, she didn't know what went with a disco dome thing, but whatever went with that, she wasn't doing it.

"Hey, glad I could help," Jessica said. "I don't get to cause low-key trouble anymore. It feels good sometimes."

"I'm amazed you don't," Sia admitted.

"It turns out that when you're Director of SHIELD, any trouble you cause ends up being a whole big thing, so you'd better really mean it," Jessica said.

"How do you ever have fun?" Sia asked, and while it sounded like teasing, it was actually kind of a serious question because Jessica.

"I tell jokes and order people to laugh at them," Jessica said. "That gets me through the day."

"I should start doing that." It'd be problematic, since Sia didn't really do jokes, though.

Well, problematic for everyone else, anyway.

"Just don't do it too much, or the President will send you a memo," Jessica said. "Yes, I know you're the Empress. Doesn't matter. History tells me that's what will happen."

"If the President sends me a memo I can only assume you've been involved somehow, and that does sound about right then," Sia said thoughtfully.

"Technically, no, that would end up going through SWORD. Or ARMOR," Jessica said. "Actually, I have no idea what agency would handle messages to an alien planet in an alternate world. It would probably be a joint thing between the two."

"Your universe needs to have less fun with their agencies," Sia decided.

"Not yet. I have a hundred bucks in the pool that says HELMET is next," Jessica said.

"As long as I don't get memos filtered through them."

Notice how she didn't doubt the existence of this pool.

"They'll probably be focused on time travel, so that shouldn't be an issue," Jessica said. "I have no idea how to make 'HELMET' reference time travel, but they'll manage it."

"You're going to create HELMET, aren't you?" Wild guess.

"No thanks. I was loaned up to help get ARMOR up and running, so that's enough cross-agency cooperation for me," Jessica declared.

"I deeply appreciate that you sound even busier than me," Sia admitted with a little smile.

"How does that happen, Your Highness?" Jessica asked. "I'm just trying to keep one world from falling apart and there are still people above me."

"Well, your world is fairly disastrous," Sia said, and sorry, but it was true, "where I deal with politics all day. Every day. My job seems much more boring."

She should probably not be so upset about being here instead of over there, no.

"And the most politics I get is people telling me I have to do more with a smaller budget," Jessica said. "That's it. I'm going to find a galaxy to be Empress of."

"Want mine?" She was mostly teasing.

"Sure. It'll be just like a sitcom where we come to appreciate how tough the other's life is and how our current jobs suit us best until new shenanigans start next week," Jessica joked.
