Third Floor Common Room [Friday evening]

Celia had thought to simply sit on one of the sofas and read the book she'd gotten from the library. That sounded like a wonderful way to spend her first Friday evening here -- utterly relaxing.

That was until she sat down on upon one of the small black rectangles that seemed to control the television (she'd pieced together what it was and what it did from walking through common rooms the past week). The thing came to life with a blare of static and noise, and Celia watched as a thin man examined garments before what appeared to be a ragtag group of clowns.

"This concerns me," he informed one of them. And that was how Celia discovered Project Runway.

Before she knew it, she had been sitting in the common room for a solid quarter-hour, staring at the television. It wasn't until she began being inexplicably bombarded by ads that she realized she had been so mesmerized, despite the total lack of an actual story.

Television was amazing.

"Oh, Tim Gunn," Loki said, taking a seat on the back of one of the couches. "I believe he was Iron Man once."

Look. No one can explain Marvel sometimes.

"He was an iron man?" Celia repeated, frowning. "He was made of iron?"

She filed the name away, though. Tim Gunn. He seemed like a wise fellow.

He was the originator of the wise words 'Make it work'.

"It was only for a brief period of time," Loki said, not even thinking to correct this.

"However did he recover?" Celia asked, wide-eyed.

There were so many people with gifts she'd never even dreamed of. To be able to turn one's form to metal...amazing.

"Oh, once the battle was over, I would assume he shed the iron like a snake might shed it's skin."

Loki was the absolute worst.

"And emerges whole and human once more," Celia mused, watching this Tim Gunn with renewed interest. "One would think he'd have more useful things to do with his time than this, then. He's not even using his iron gift now."

Though he could and he wouldn't look much stranger than most of the contestants.

No, this wasn't Alex's floor, but Alex's floor had a woeful lack of food right now.

"Oh, hey, Project Runway," Alex said as he veered into the third floor's kitchen on a raid.

"You know it?" Celia asked, turning to the source of the new voice. "I've only just discovered it a few moments ago."

"I'm not, like, a fan or anything, but sure, I know what it is," Alex said with a shrug. "I used to live in New York, sometimes they'd shut down places for filming." And then pitch a giant fit when a superhero battle took out their filming location, whoops.

"They film things in New York now," Celia said, sounding amazed. "I suppose that makes sense." She eyed him, and added, "I also came from New York, most recently. But I imagine mine looked different from yours."

Just an idea. The difference of a hundred years or more.

"A lot of New Yorks do," Alex agreed. "Mine has superheroes, for one thing."

That would do it, yes. "What's a superhero?" Celia wondered thoughtfully.

"Ares-son still lives?" Loki seemed moderately surprised by this news.

Because he was Loki.

"Ha ha, very funny." He'd only skipped, like, half of last semester at most...

"My concern is genuine!" It was not.

"Liar," Alex said, his tone that of one merely stating a fact. Because he was.

Jessica was making her way back from some training in town when she caught the sounds of people having fun.

"Which model show is this?" Jessica checked when she spotted what was on.

"I believe it is called Project Runway, or so I've been told," Celia said, turning to look at her with a smile. Then she frowned, catching the implication of Jessica's question. "There are more like this?"

"Just one or two. I think," Jessica said. "No more than three, I promise. Probably."

"Why could you possibly need more than one?" She already liked the iron man Tim Gunn very much, but she couldn't imagine why there would need to be multiple incarnations of the same sort of program. "Is there truly that much demand?"

"One show gets popular, so people try to copy it, and sometimes those get poplar enough to survive," Jessica said. "So yes, for some reason, there is. But we didn't know that for sure until they gave us this many shows."

"Hello, Jessica!" Loki was watching TV and updating his twitter feed. As one does.

"Hey, Loki," Jessica said. "Please tell me you're livetweeting Project Runway."

"Of course! Do you think I should encourage my followers to take down the Lifetime website?"

"I don't advocate that kind of behavior," Jessica said. "... And you would have a devoted following who'd do that, wouldn't you?"
