The gym [Sunday afternoon]

Mara had been here a week now, and so after finding a quiet place to give the Emperor her report on the first days, she made her way down to the gym to get in a workout.

Even with classes on spycraft (well, sort of...) and getting shot at, she still wasn't going to practice hand-to-hand combat exercises or sharpshooting techniques where any student could find her.

Thus the music and the barre and going through warm-ups for dancing: the first cover she'd even been given. Her muscles relaxed as she moved through familiar exercises. "First position, second position--"

Before he'd gotten sick, Travis had been much of a workout buff. When he'd gotten sick, he'd been pretty much bedridden until he'd died. But, getting Jeremy Pratt's body and seeing the condition the kid had kept it in made Travis feel like he had to keep that up.

Travis found the gym accidentally on purpose and almost turned around when he saw someone else in there who looked far more comfortable in the gym then he felt. But, he pushed on, stepping inside and taking a look around to see what might be the easiest thing to use.

Mara's Force-sense gave her a warning the moment Travis walked into the room, but she continued with her spin sequence before she smiled over at him. "Hello."

"Hey," he returned, giving her a wave. "Sorry to interrupt you. You looked pretty dialed in."

"I've been dancing almost since I could walk," Mara admitted. "It's relaxing."

"I'd probably twist an ankle if I tried," he joked, coming further into the gym and taking a look at the facilities. It was much more then the bunch of mats and basketball hoops his hold gym had been. "I've been dancing since...never."

"What do you do instead?" Mara asked.

"...watch movies." Not his best response. "Skateboard too when the weather's nice enough. Haven't really tried much else."

What a boring life he led.

"Neither of those are really gym activities," Mara teased. "Are you lost?"

"Ha ha," Travis said dryly. "No, I'm not lost. I was, in fact, looking for the gym and I found it. Besides, I've watched movies in a gym before so you're wrong about that one."

"What kind of movie do they show in a gym?" Mara asked, putting her leg up on the top of the barre and stretching.

"Whichever ones they want to," he answered, wandering over to one of the punching bags and giving it a push. "All you need is projection screen and projector and you can put the movie up on the wall. Pack a lot of people on the floor on some gym mats and it's a perfect Friday night."

"Unless someone wanted to work out," Mara said. "They'd probably be annoyed."

"Why's that?" Travis asked, shrugging and looking over at her. "There's more than one gym most of the time and they could always go outside. Sharing is caring."

"Hey, roomie," Johnny said on his way to the exercise bikes. "Fancy meeting you here."

Mara grinned at him, blushing slightly. Shut up, he was cute. Still. "Hi, Johnny."

And he still enjoyed having that effect on girls. "Is this a yoga thing or just a warm up thing before doing something else?"

"I dance," Mara said, "so this is a warm-up."

"I'm rooming with a dancer," Johnny said. "Dear god, I really did stumble into the best school ever."

"I'm glad you think so. I ended up in a class that let me punch my school-sponsored big sibling in the face." Mara shrugged. "It was an odd week."

"Is your sib a jerk?" Johnny asked. "Because that could at least be cathartic. Also, what class is that?"

"How to be a Spy," Mara said, rolling her eyes. "I don't know why I'm even in that class."

"Well, apparently somebody wants you to be a spy," Johnny said. "I guess there's weird scheduling stuff here. Pretty much all but three of us in the sex class either had a scheduling mixup that landed them in there or lied about a scheduling mixup. So it happens."

He believed that a few people had mixups. He was convinced most people were big old liars, though.

Mara arched up an eyebrow. "That seems like an awful lot to have accidentally ended up in a sex class."

"That's what I'm saying. I believe a couple of them who I think nearly had heart attacks," Johnny said, kindly. "But come on, everyone else. Fess up, get some phone numbers, see what happens. Nothing bad is going to come from telling the rest of the class 'I'm interested in dating and sex.'"

At least, nothing bad if you had zero shame like Johnny.

"Not if they aren't creepy about it, at least," Mara said.

The Imperial Court could be a skeevy, skeevy place.
