Peridot was hiding.

Tiny humans freaked her out, apparently. Humans weren't supposed to be so small and excitable! Not unless they were Steven, but Steven was half-Gem and Peridot kind of figured being raised at least in part by Pearl would have that effect on anybody.

So. Hiding. Up on the roof, which, admittedly, was one of the places she tended to go in order to be alone to tinker or think or stare up at the sky and marvel at the fact that she couldn't find Homeworld's galaxy up there at all. But it was still a good place to hide, right?

She'd kind of wedged herself behind a planter up there. Which would have been a perfect hiding place if not for the shock of triangular, green-yellow hair poking up above it. Her hiding skills could use work.

[OOC: And open roof! For... more SP, but I'm expecting some little ones, and SP is life anyway!]

Summer tried to be cool about this whole throwing her first party at Fandom High thing, because it was just a party, it had to be cool, and people could totally smell your desperation. It helped to remind herself that this was a much smaller school, and, as...interesting as her fellow students here were, there was no way it could get as weird as that time she and her grandpa threw a party together and all his weird space friends showed up. She did have a small panic attack over the thought that maybe no one would show up, but it was a party! How could they not? And if they didn't, that was fine, that just meant more pizza for her.

It would be a lot of pizza, though, as she traded in all of her pills from home for funds to buy a lot of pizza and chips and (sigh) pop. She hooked up her phone to pump out some tunes, which meant really hoping someone would pull through with some booze because it was scientifically proven that holding red Solo cups with beer diminished texting cravings, if only because it was increasingly difficult to do both.

So, there was food. There was music. There were beverages which were probably more appropriate for a boarding school dormitory setting, anyway. Now all Summer needed was people.

It started around midnight. Big, purple globs of grape jello, raining down from the sky. Jello drenched the bricks, the emo garden up on the roof, and every window that happened to be on the wrong end of the wind.

An hour later, the dorm sirens began blaring.

By then, the lawn was already coated in a thin layer of jello, and it did not look like the weather had any intention of letting up.

Mara'd had a Very Trying Morning. She'd gone out for coffee and had been attacked by raining candies shaped like fruit and, weirdly, birds, and then been treated to a lesson on counting by a giant talking Number Four.

There hadn't been enough caffeine in the world for that, and it had not gotten better when she'd gone to Eggsy's room to bitch about it only to discover her boyfriend had turned into an actual egg.

So now she was down in the common room eating cereal out of the box and keeping a careful--if annoyed--eye on her boyfriend. The egg. Don't try to eat him for breakfast.

Saturday found Kathy in a much better mood than she'd been in previous days. Enough so that rather than staying in the room she shared with Raven (who had curled up smaller than Kathy had ever seen her under her blankets in the night) and finishing off the last of the cereal in sulky silence, Kathy had decided to head to the common room to make a real breakfast. French toast, she was thinking. With--hey! A package of bacon in the fridge that needed to be used within the next day or so. Excellent! And some gaeran tost-u to make it really feel like breakfast at home.

Oooh. There was honey. She could make honey-butter! For the regular toast!

She put the TV on for some quiet background noise (was Crying Breakfast Friends playing on EVERY channel?) as she bustled around the kitchen making a hearty breakfast for herself--and maybe even a bit to share if others showed.

[Open for incoming kids! Though with SP warning as there's a sleep and a wedding to get to. Warning: - possible tw for child abuse mentions in this Dante, folks.]

"So, the thing about cheating at cards, is it's mostly misdirection," Ada was saying, as she laid out her deck. "You can mark them, sure, little cuts you can feel but not see, rough corners that could be explained away as heavy use, but you really don't want the other person looking at your cards, or theirs. Wearing short-sleeves helps because then they can't claim you have a card up your sleeve...but that doesn't mean you didn't have it hidden in the folds of your skirt or tucked in the leg of your shorts...and if they're busy looking at the naked ladies on the cards, they sure as hell ain't paying attention to what you're doing."

Ada Miller, ladies and gentlemen. Barker for the Miller Family Carnival, and terrible influence on Townies her roommate.

Mara was a Team Player when it came to the Student Council. Look at her, manning the ticket booth and guarding the voting box, even though she was but a wee freshman and would not be attending the event.

Unless, of course, some upperclassman asked her. You know, just throwing that out there, upperclassmen.

She was there, behind the table and wondering if everything the Council touched just ended up covered in glitter. Because now she was, too. Sigh.

What Gwen was learning was that even if you went back on that "I'm better than my hormones" bit this week, it didn't matter if you thought you fixed everything, it came back. So when marched into the common room ready to be grouchy and hate everything some more... and she walked into a party.

There was food spread out, and music playing, and weirdly the furniture had been moved so that a clear circle could be formed around a bottle laying in the middle of the floor. That was sexily ominous.

[Welcome to Spin the Bottle! It's an open CR, so you can totally come to watch and not play, but if you're playing, here are the rules:
If you're playing, ping into the sign in with the number in which you got there. That'll be your number for matches, which will be listed in a separate thread. If you didn't sign up, you're still totally welcome to play, and anyone who pings in later than 18 will be matched with someone already in the pool, so they might get kissed more than once.
Now play ball! ...um not dirty.]

Mara's sighed, "I wish there was something I recognized to eat," had let to a common room bursting with nerfburgers and blue milk, as well as a small mountain of exotic Coruscanti pastries.

"Sooo much better," she said, tucking into a burger and flipping through the channels. Maybe there'd be a movie she knew too!

Face was probably devoutly wishing the opposite.

Mara, freshly showered from her daily workout, stopped into the common room for a snack...and stopped, mesmorized by the costumes on the television.

"No one can ever, ever tell the Queens of Naboo about this," she said, sitting down to watch Miss Argentina arrive on stage. "What is this?"

Anyone want to explain Miss Universe to a girl from another galaxy?

'Twas the end of the school week, and Edward had plans to celebrate it. Plans he was currently putting into motion: he had a bottle of something fizzy he'd nicked from one of the other common rooms, he had a bowl of nachos he'd stolen from yet another common room, and he had a sofa he was just borrowing to put his arse on.

It'd been months, but he was at least starting to adjust to the television. It no longer seared his eyes to look at it, and even the noise it made had started to sound almost natural.

So he turned it on, hit some numbers at random, and got... mice. Mice, dressed up as pirates, commanding a ship and raiding other ships for... cheese? Right. Well. Edward couldn't say he understood, but he could say he was too lazy to change the channel again. He'd asked Lady Luck for her recommendation, and this was what he'd gotten. So be it.

"Arrrr," he echoed one of the mice, idly.

Mara danced around the common room, singing to herself as she swung her gorgeous, natural red hair over her shoulders while beautifully baked (or so she thought) cookies cooled on the counter next to the stove.

It was so AMAZING to be Mara and be beautiful and brilliant and funny and a deadly assassin all in one adorable little package.

She was such a special, special snowflake. And you could be one too, if you'd ventured outside today...

It was such a quaint place Chase had ended up in. It was a tiny speck of an island, filled with people that seemed to smile at him as he passed. They obviously had no idea who he was. Or what he was. It was hilarious. Apparently, his fellow Sons of Ipswich had run off like the cowards they were.

Again, it was hilarious.

Chase was sitting on the ledge of the roof, feet hanging off and tight smile directed at the people below him. Just one flick of his hand, one nod of his head and he could crush them all. But, that might be a bit messy and he did love to have fun with his friends before he killed them. Even if Caleb wasn't around and therefore, couldn't will Chase his powers, Chase figured he'd compromise.

And if that failed, he'd just kill people. That always took the edge off for a little while. Maybe he'd finish this island off before setting off to find Caleb and his friends. It'd be good...practice.

[Open place! Flick's now Chase Collins from the cinematic masterpiece, The Covenant. He's not a nice guy and he's pretty powerful so, yep.]

Mara had a completely moddable pile of shiny things -- from buttons to electronics -- that her racoon-y self had stolen last week on the table in front of the television with a neatly printed "sorry, please take your stuff back" sign in front of it.

She'd also flipped channels until she'd found one of those competitive eating shows that Travis had told her about and was watching in morbid fascination as some guy tried to eat 30 hotdogs in three minutes.

Come on in, get your stuff back, lose your appetite!

Johnny had an emotional but overall good weekend. But after doing radio this morning, it was clear that Parents Weekend wasn't as pleasant for everyone.

And so, as promised, Johnny bought some cupcakes and brought them to the first floor lobby. They were available to anyone who wanted or needed them, provided they would accept a hug from Johnny. And no, that wasn't a thing for the girls. Guys were getting a bro hug too. This was a platonic hug of support.

And if you needed, he was willing to give a pep talk, too. Girls had told him that he was great at saying the right thing to make them feel good about themselves. Why not apply that to people in actual need of cheering up?

Fandom needed it's favorite flaming superhero to do something a little different today and he was completely willing to do that. That's what being a superhero was, ven if he wasn't on fire.

There were two reasons for the party being organized in the second floor common room tonight. The official one was that Sparkle and Alana were both campaigning for seats on the Student Council and needed to get their names out there.

The less official one was that Minako's fifth floor party the week before had been amazing, and the hosts wanted to prove other floors could host something just about as awesome.

Other than the VOTE FOR ALANA and VOTE FOR SPARKLE posters taped to the walls, the set-up was standard for a dorm party. They'd filled a table with pizza and snacks (including, at Sparkle's insistence, homemade sparkler-topped cupcakes), and Alana had set up her tablet to play a mix of trancey pop music. The electronica battled for ear space with an intentionally campy sci-fi movie playing on the TV.

Everyone in the student body had gotten an emailed invitation, so now it was just a matter of seeing who would show up.

Working under the specious logic that if he couldn't remember anything before yesterday that anything dumb he did today might be forgotten soon anyway, Jonathan - no, JOHN Storm set up some chips, a few bottles of pirate rum, and a sign just outside the common room announcing the Let's Make Some Mistakes We Won't Remember Party.

He had to get creative with some of the entertainment, but John was pretty sure this whole thing would work out regardless.

Mara had been here a week now, and so after finding a quiet place to give the Emperor her report on the first days, she made her way down to the gym to get in a workout.

Even with classes on spycraft (well, sort of...) and getting shot at, she still wasn't going to practice hand-to-hand combat exercises or sharpshooting techniques where any student could find her.

Thus the music and the barre and going through warm-ups for dancing: the first cover she'd even been given. Her muscles relaxed as she moved through familiar exercises. "First position, second position--"
