First Floor Lobby, Monday morning

Johnny had an emotional but overall good weekend. But after doing radio this morning, it was clear that Parents Weekend wasn't as pleasant for everyone.

And so, as promised, Johnny bought some cupcakes and brought them to the first floor lobby. They were available to anyone who wanted or needed them, provided they would accept a hug from Johnny. And no, that wasn't a thing for the girls. Guys were getting a bro hug too. This was a platonic hug of support.

And if you needed, he was willing to give a pep talk, too. Girls had told him that he was great at saying the right thing to make them feel good about themselves. Why not apply that to people in actual need of cheering up?

Fandom needed it's favorite flaming superhero to do something a little different today and he was completely willing to do that. That's what being a superhero was, ven if he wasn't on fire.

And hug, if you don't want to deal with SP throughout work that will be definitely more slow than play.

Grab a cupcake, get a hug, maybe have Johnny remind you that you're pretty great and that family stuff was what it was and shouldn't determine your happiness. Or ask him what the hell he's doing.

Hugs to all characters, geez. Johnny eaves town for THREE DAYS and everyone gets sad.

Rapunzel didn't have anywhere to be today -- yay, no classes until later in the week -- and had decided to actually get out of her room and stop moping for awhile.

And it wasn't until she was downstairs that she actually remembered what Johnny had said on the radio, and lifted a skeptical brow in greeting. "Is this where I get my free hug and cupcake?" she asked, smiling a little.

"Yes, it is," Johnny said, gesturing to the cupcakes on the table. "Hopefully it helps brighten your mood a little bit."

Elsa had heard Johnny's broadcast, and, while she didn't doubt for an instant that he was going to carry through with his promise of hugs and cupcakes, she really had to come and see for herself.

She took a look around as she stepped down into the lobby, and then gave him a little smile and a nod of her head.

"I'm really not much of a hugger," she said apologetically, "but it really is nice to see you down here doing this for people. It's really been that sort of weekend for some, I think."

Herself included. Visitor weekends were fired.

"Who says my mood needs brightening?" Rapunzel asked, feeling a little sassy and in denial about it. (You know, other than multiple radio notes that said she was said, multiple conversations with people that indicated as much, and her overall obvious mopiness. BUT WHO OTHER THAN THAT.) Her smile widened a little, though, in spite of her sass, and she took a cupcake. "This is nice of you to do, anyway."

"Thanks for saying that. An you could be the happiest person on the planet and still get a boost from a cupcake and a friendly face," Johnny said with a casual kind of care. He wasn't about to tell someone that they weren't happy no matter how clear the radio notes about the weekend were.

"That's definitely what it sounded like," Johnny said. "I really didn't expect for the weekend to be so emotional for people."

Johnny thought for a second. "Could you deal with a high five? You don't have to, but it is a great way to share awesomeness between people."

"There are a lot of people with family issues," Elsa observed, nodding faintly. "I think for some of them, here is how they get away from that."

Case in point, Elsa.

"I... have no idea what a high five is," she added, blinking. "You're going to have to help me out with that one, I think."

That was just one of the many reasons that Johnny Storm was a delightful asset to their school, really. "So you weren't around this weekend, huh?" Rapunzel asked, slanting a look at him as she unwrapped her cupcake. "Have fun at home?"

Johnny raise his hand, palm out. "Just hold your hand out like this and slap my hand," Johnny said. "And yeah, I get it. I actually kind of had the same thing when I came here. But I ended up going home this weekend to hash things out with my sister and that apparently went way better than a lot of stuff around here."

"I'm not sure I'd call it fun. I hadn't told my sister that I was back in the country until this weekend," Johnny said. "There was yelling, fighting, crying, all that kind of stuff. But it was good. We worked some stuff out and ended up in a good place."

Elsa looked at Johnny's hand, and then squinted at her own for a moment before shrugging her shoulders and doing as instructed. Clap! Like so.

Her first high-five! She was definitely going to have to look into the cultural significance of that one. It seemed like a weird one.

"Well, it's good to hear that the weekend went well for somebody," she decided, smiling a little as she wiggled her fingers thoughtfully, and then clasped her hands in front of herself again. "It seems as though weekends that ended on a good note were rare. Do you and your sister usually get along?" A pause. "Unless that's none of my business, of course."

"Oh, gosh," Rapunzel winced sympathetically. "I...can imagine." No, seriously, she could, considering her own circumstances here. "But things are okay now? I mean, obviously you were allowed to come back, and all."

"We're pretty tight. But there was a whole big thing a few months ago. Like half of New York got drowned and my dad died in front of me," Johnny said. "I kind of took off for a while after that. This was the first time I've been back since his funeral."

"More than anything, she's just glad that I did come back to check in. I am too."

Oh. Well. That hit a little close to home. Elsa winced sympathetically, and nodded.

"Facing siblings again after running away might be a running theme for the weekend," she admitted. "I came here and left my sister behind after our parents drowned, too. Though you actually went back to see her on your own. That takes courage."

She hesitated for a moment, and then softly added, "I'm sorry about your loss."

"Yeah, it was a whole big thing, but it was cathartic," Johnny said with a smile. "She and I are good. I wouldn't be the person giving out the cupcakes if we weren't."

"Maybe this is how you cheer yourself up," Rapunzel suggested, because...well, usually it was the sort of thing she'd do, if she weren't quite so deep in the gloominess hole today. "How come she didn't know you were here?" Sorry, she was going to be nosy about that just because it was common ground, Johnny. "Did you just not tell her, or was it like, a secret?"

After doing the radio broadcast on Saturday, Kira had an idea that was similar to Johnny's, except instead of food, her plan had manifested into gold star stickers with "I survived Parents' Weekend 2014" written on them.

She could offer hugs too, but she figured people would prefer getting one from Johnny.

"Oooh, there's pastry?" Mara asked as she come in from her portal, smiling at Johnny.

"My weekend was fine, but I want a cupcake anyhow," Alana informed him, reaching for one with extra sprinkles. "How was yours?"

Everyone wanted a hug from Kira, too. Or they were liars. There were only two options there.

"I like the gold stars," Johnny said. "I can't take one though. I skipped town for the weekend."

"I didn't tell her," Johnny said. "A few months ago there was a big tidal wave thing that hit the building we lived in, and my dad drowned in front of me. And my way of dealing with it was to run off for a while and not contact anyone at all. But things are better now. There was bonding."

"So how busy has it been?" Gwen wondered when she wandered over.
