4th floor common room- Wednesday after classes

Yesterday's class had gotten pretty ridiculous, and because Gwen was a totally rational person who felt like she should have been granted sainthood somewhere around hour five of the discussion, today there was gonna be a party.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen! There'd been hastily-photocopied flyers put up around the dorms this morning to advertise (and warn anyone who didn't want to stumble into it). Gwen had taken advantage of the pizza place's weird fixation on giving extra food and so there was plenty in the kitchen, there were (non-alcoholic) drinks and popcorn, and there was nothing but moddable dirty movies on the TV. There was plenty of room, come and stay as long as you want!

That's what she said.

(But don't actually do that, ew.)

[Open, and this is me trying to keep your flists clean at work! Can't guarantee the comments will be worksafe, though. You can miss the flyers if you'd like to innocently stumble in anyway, and also feel free to bring your own movies.]

"Men and women doing as they wish," Edward said. He glanced away from the screen again. "Doesn't seem like such a terrible thing."

"We've all survived here with minimal supervision thus far," Celia pointed out, smiling a little wider. "I've had gentlemen callers in my bedroom and nothing untoward has happened, even!"

Almost nothing, anyway. Northing she hadn't welcomed.

"It's almost like people in this time think we can be responsible and think for ourselves. What a concept."

"Shouldn't be such an odd one, should it," Edward said thoughtfully. "Stick to your own, don't do anything untoward, don't dream too loudly-- sometimes this place makes me think our era is a wretched one."

"Don't get me started or I'll bend your ear on this subject all day," Celia warned him. "At least you might get some education as far as the baser things in life. Most girls my age don't know what they're getting into until their wedding night. This era is remarkably forthcoming with information."

"Ah, there are plenty of girls who know their way around," Edward said. He looked towards Celia. "They're just told that makes them lesser."

"There's that," Celia admitted, and even if she was one of the girls who didn't quite know her way around, she knew fairly well how that sort of dismissal felt. Thank you again, Parents' Weekend. "It's nice to have the sort of freedom that comes with this era, anyway. Freedom to learn, and of expression, regardless of the context."

"Freedom to grow beyond what the world tells us our station should be," Edward said, because that was his particular beef. "Aye, apparently they've learned from our parents' mistakes."
