The Gym: Wednesday Afternoon

Dipper decided today to do something healthy. Like work out with the weight machine to try to perform a bench press.

It wasn't working well. He could barely push the bar up.

If one listen closely, they could hear him mutter "Stupid. Noodle. Arms."

Hopefully no one else would be around to witness his humiliation.

Dipper was used to the lack of attention however he was slightly surprised by the nod. Thus his response was more of a question than a greeting.

"Um. Hi?"

"Hello." Jalian tested one of the dummies for weight. She glanced back at him for a moment. "You're new."

Dipper paused a second feeling slightly intimidated.

Okay, very intimidated.

"Yep!" He said his voice cracking slightly. "That's me. New guy. Dipper Pines. That's me."

"Jalian d'Arsennette y ken Selvren," Jalian answered. "Dipper is your name, or your occupation?"

"Name," he said quickly. "I'm also not related to any trees."

He winced as soon as that came out his mouth.

"Are you French? You're name sounds really French."

And right now he wondered if he'd be better off if he just literally put his foot in his mouth.

"I am not French." Nor was it the first time she'd been asked that. Or the tenth. "My clan is ken Selvren. Why would you be related to trees?"

This one was odd even for males of this timeline.

"My last name is Pine?" he added with another wince. "Sorry. Kind of a joke. What is a clan ken Selvren? Are you from another timeline or planet?"

"Another timeline," Jalian answered. "Ken Selvren is Clan Silver-Eyes, in English. I am Jalian of the Fires of the clan of people with silver eyes. And I'm not related to fire, either," she added as an afterthought.

Dipper's future was rather weird.

"I'm from a different timeline," Jalian reminded him. "A future of a world like this one, but not this one. And...no." She gave him a very dubious look. "What is a Time Baby?"

"A really giant baby that doesn't like timelines being messed with," Dipper explained. "And he's from the future. I was just making sure your future timeline didn't cross with my future timeline."
