The Roof, Friday Late Afternoon Onwards

While Alluka didn't know lots and lots of things, she knew what a tea party meant and, after talks with Ringo and her own experiences at the welcome picnics, she knew that it was important for real parties to have lots of tasty food and fun things to drink. So that was easy enough to figure out! Then she let Ringo handle that.

Which was why there was so much food. Ringo had started by ordering take out "for one" from a bunch of local places, which would probably have been enough on its own. But then she'd found a recipe for fruit punch on the internet, and decided to try that out, and then she'd had a random craving for cherries which had led to a bunch of random fruit. There was even an entire table dedicated to chocolate. You were welcome, Alluka.

Alluka handled the decorations, which meant that come the Friday of the party, ever since just a little past noon, she'd been up on the roof decorating under the critical eye of her bunny and her giraffe (both of whom had differing opinions on everything from glitter placement to balloon placement) but by the time the party was to get started, she'd managed to get it all up, with the tables and chairs and balloons and glitter and banners along the rooftop railing.

Between the two of them, they'd gotten everything set up in time to go and do their hair and change.

Her bunny won the argument between her toys about who got to come with, so her bunny was looking very smart indeed with its ears tied back with a black and white scrunchie.

Alluka smoothed her new dress down and grinned over at Ringo. While Alluka's dress was white (well, okay, with a little bit of black, but they'd both decided that that didn't count) and her hair was up in an elegant twist (Ringo had helped her do it), Ringo's dress was a deep black and her long hair was loose from its usual pigtails to spill down her back.

Now they just had to hope people came.

Ringo was feeling a bit nervous. She'd never thrown a party before!

She was trying to hide that nervousness, though, and so she had a big smile on her face and was trying to at least say hi to everyone who showed up on the roof. Whether they were there for the party or not.

"You know I'm going to keep track of everyone who shows up, right?" Kathy told her with a grin. "So I know which one of us threw the bigger party, you or me."

She had no intentions of doing that at all, of course, but where was the fun in admitting that to Ringo?

At some point in the evening, Kathy was going to get an important message on her burner Banzai phone, but until then, she was more than happy to come to a party thrown by Ringo and Alluka. In a cute dress of her own, Kathy made her way up to the roof and whistled at the decorations.

"Wow," she said, looking around. "You two went all out!"

"Kathy, Kathy, Kathy!" she said happily. "Do you like it?"

Kathy whistled at decorations, Ezra whistled at her. Fair trade? Fair trade.

"Looking fantastic, Miss Li."

Who could even say whether Ezra had actually seen the posters, or if he just had a sixth sense for parties? Whichever it was, he turned up in a well-fitting high-end suit, and a smile on his face.

He was a natural at parties.

Either way was fine with Ringo! When she spotted him, she made a beeline for Ezra. "Hi!" she chirped with a grin, relieved that people were actually coming! "Thank you for coming to the party! I hope you have fun!"

It was really hard for her not to bob a grateful bow in his direction, but she managed it!

Alluka had no idea who Ezra was, but that wasn't going to stop her from beaming at him.

"We're glad you've come!" Alluka said brightly. "There's punch and food over that way, if you're hungry."

They had two out of Ada's four classes together, so she knew vaguely who he was even if she didn't know-know him. Or at least, she didn't think she knew him? But whenever it got cloudy, sometimes her memory started to flicker strangely.

"Ezra, yeah?" she said, looking him over. "Is that standard for parties at school? Did I under-dress for the event?"

It wasn't as if Ada had anything better to do with her time than try to master Wicked Grace, so up on the roof she was, following the party signs.

She had found a nice dress body-glittered the heck out of her arms and decolletage to camouflage her scales, and tossed on her favorite hat. Ada was ready to party.

"I love your glitter," Alluka squealed, because she really, really did. "And your hat is super cute! Hi, welcome! Thanks for coming!"

"Hey!" Ringo called, grinning as she headed straight over to Ada when she spotted her.

"I love your dress." And her glitter.

Anders had taken the extra time to look nice for his little sister's party. His damp hair shone from its ponytail, and his white shirt and black jeans, although simple, were crisp and fit him well.

He gazed at the decorations as he emerged onto the roof. "Wow, it's beautiful up here."

Ringo grinned when she spotted him. "Well, well, if it isn't Alluka's big brother."

She looked him over for a moment. "You even dressed up." Sorta.

"That's why we had to have a party here!" Alluka announced, bouncing over for a hug. "You're all fancy today!"

Well, fancy maybe was pushing it, but Alluka thought he looked good.

Xanthippe was no closer to figuring out the social system at this school. But she had a date for this party, and so she showed up with her face made up and her dress looking sharp.

Time to see whether a Fandom party would live up to Manhattan parties. (Spoiler: she really didn't think it would.)

"So, you didn't stand me up," Jasper quipped once he'd made his way up to the roof. His clothes were neat and pressed, for once. Dark pants, crisp button up shirt and comfortable shoes.

Mabel was here and was so ready to get her PAR-TAY on! She was even wearing a shirt with a disco ball on it! How much more ready for a party could a girl possibly get, right?

Jasper continued to not be a huge party person but he was there because he'd asked someone to go with him and because his roommate was throwing the party.

He showed up neatly dressed and looking confident and assured. Too bad he didn't feel that inside. All an act.

Okay, she'd probably share, since as a host she knew she was supposed to feed her guests, but Alluka was definitely going to linger by the chocolate table more than anywhere else.
