1st Floor Rec Room, Monday Evening
'Somehow' (Kathy was blaming Dante), dinner at El Burrito Loco had involved not one but several alcoholic flights for them to share: it had started with a cerveza flight with appetizers, turned into a sangria flight before their entrees had come out, and finished up with a tequila flight right before they'd finished eating. It was the tequila flight that had done it; they had been just fine after the sangria, but the shots of tequila, even when divided between the three of them, had sent them right over the edge from 'pleasantly buzzed' to 'gigglng and tipsy.'
The trip home hadn't sobered them up much, which was why they'd somehow ended up in the first floor Rec Room instead of heading up the stairs to the third floor. It was also why the discovery of a fully-functioning karaoke machine was pounced on with delight. Normally, Kathy would have been all over the DDR machine in the corner, but karaoke was a much, much better idea--for one thing, there was far less movement involved.
"We are doing this," she informed the guys, plugging the machine in and pulling out the track listings. There were an insane number of tracks from all over the world. Kathy was shocked to find songs listed by prominent K- and J-Pop artists, as well as the standard fare of Broadway, 50s ballads, and 70's rock. "We are absolutely doing this. In fact, Dante, I challenge you to an 80s power ballad-off right now."
The first floor of the Dorms was in for a very long, very musical night.
[Dante and Anders modded with permission, post very definitely open for anyone who wants to come in and sing! Beat the Mondays with secondhand karaoke!]

Anyway, Kathy was slipping through his arms down to the floor, holding her hands to the sky. "Every now and then I fall apart!"

Probably because she was, you know, down on her knees with him looming over her.

He waved his arms around like he expected to make fireworks. (He couldn't. That was Anders' job.) "We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks!"

"Once upon a time, I was falling in love... But now I'm only falling apart..."
He pushed Kathy away from him. Theatrically.

She was going to keep going, too, taking the next few lines for herself. "Once upon a time there was light in my life," she sang, slowly drawing herself back up to her feet. She gave him a look full of longing and emotional torment, before turning dramatically away. "But now there's only love in the dark..."
Away from those damn big eyes for one.

He sighed loudly. (It sounded just a touch sarcastic.)
"A total eclipse of the heart!"
no subject
"Turn around, bright eyes!"

Did it suddenly get awkward in here or what? Kathy was going to press on and ignore that. Too tipsy to go looking for deeper meanings in songs, thanks!

He was still up against the wall, but he was kinda relaxing against it now.

who wanted me the way that I am!"

"Turn around," Dante chorused, and miracle upon miracles, he didn't grab her ass even though it felt like an ass-grabbing moment.
no subject
And was he sure about that ass-grabbing thing? Because Kathy was turning around, making sure to brush against him as she did, and pointed to Anders again. "Every now and then I know there's no one in the universe as magical and wondrous as you..."
She couldn't not sing that to the mage in the room, come on.
no subject
With one hand. The other one, he needed to make a general 'see what the lady's singing?' gesture at Kathy.
Well, physically at Kathy, generally more at Anders, whatever. "--Turn around," he added, as an afterthought.
no subject
Kathy turned around, wrapping a leg around his waist and then bending over backwards until her head was practically on the floor. Upside down, she waggled her fingers at Anders, singing, "Every now and then I know there's nothing any better, there's nothing that I just wouldn't do!"
no subject
Yes. Yes, he was. Aw, pretzel!Kathy.
"Turn around, bright eyes," he... hollered more than sang, really. While patting her leg.
no subject
"Every now and then I fall apaaaaart!" Kathy pulled herself back upright, only to collapse against Dante's chest again. And if the line came out muffled, well, it most certainly wasn't because she was giggling. No way, that would be ridiculous. Which she never was.
no subject
He wrapped an arm around her waist.
... and then decided to just scoop her up off the floor into his arms, which unfortunately meant he couldn't reach the microphone any longer.
no subject
"Ack!" That was not her line, but her delivery was surprisingly musical anyway. And it didn't take long to adjust to being swung up into Dante's arms; it was more laughter that had her coming in late. "--be making it right!
'Cause we'll never be wrong! Together we can take it to the end of the line!
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time!"
no subject
Seriously, Anders was getting all the amused looks throughout this performance.

"I really need you tonight! Forever's gonna start tonight!" Kathy leaned over and nipped at Dante's ear. Hey, it was in range! What was she supposed to do? Ignore it?
"Forever's gonna start tonight!"
