Fourth Floor Common Room, Saturday morning
Paris was opening cabinet doors and muttering under her breath as Lucky Charms cereal continued to fall out, even from doors she'd already opened. "That doesn't make sense," she told the door.
Which didn't talk back, much to her unspoken relief. "I'm not eating this for breakfast," she announced to the ceiling. "If I wanted to go into a sugar coma, I'd just hit the pixie stix like a normal person!"

"It's supposed to be a celebration of the Irish people," Paris said, "a country in Europe where many of its citizens emigrated during wars and famine." She gestured at the cereal. "This, for instance, is peddled by a pretend leprechaun, a symbol of Irish folk tales."

"Irish people," he repeated, to help him remember. "A pretend leprechaun." His head tilted. "Is it intended to be consumed? Or is it used for some other celebratory ritual?"
