Second floor common room- Monday morning

Sabine only had one class on Monday, and she had just planned on getting some caffeine before having to go, except she walked into the common room to find puppies. Random puppies. Adorable, tiny, fluffy baby puppies.

She didn't know where they came from and obviously they wouldn't be staying, but could anyone blame her if she ignored the caffeine to pick one up and cuddle him? (The answer was no, not unless they were a monster.)


[Snow day! You need puppies, come play.]

"Don't tempt me," Vette replied, smiling lopsidedly. "This one has ears almost as long as my lekku were at that age."

She wasn't going to keep the puppy. Was not.

"And that one is sleeping on me. And this one here? He stepped on me, and..."

"And how many of them kissed you?" she teased, since Vette being overwhelmed with adorable puppies was pretty darn great.

"Every single one," Vette replied, her voice an awed whisper. "Nina, I was kissed by every puppy."

So she needed all of them, clearly.

Oh! Hrm.

That... that was an awful lot of puppies to need.

"They clearly thought you deserved it!!!!!!!!!!!!" she said, laughing. "Oh no, the tragedy of puppy kisses!!!!!"

"I knoooooow," Vette groaned. "And that's why I need to stay here forver. I don't want to let any of them down. I can't let them think I play favorites, like I'm judging how good they are at kissing."

"It's true!!!!!" Nina said this as solemnly as she could manage at the moment, which wasn't very. "You don't want to hurt their feelings. Their teeny, tiny cuddly little feelings!!!!!"

"Nina, I can't have a dog. They dogs already have me."

Also, she wouldn't know the first thing to do with a dog, which kind of seemed important.

"Vette," she said, shaking her head, "that's the true deep, dark secret of pet ownership!!!!!!!! You never own them. It's always that they own you with their adorable cuteness!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Oh my gosh," Vette replied, eyes going wide. "The puppy takeover has begun?"

Nina surveyed the room.

And the puppies crowded around her feet.

"I think," she said gravely, "that the puppy takeover is well, well underway. We're all doomed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

But such a cheerful doom!

"This might actually be the best thing about Earth," Vette confided. "They have the best dogs."

She laughed.

"But, Vette, I thought I was the best thing about Earth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

You know, despite not being from it herself.

"Oh, no, you're the best thing about this entire system," Vette countered, reaching over to tickle the toes of a teeny tiny Irish setter. "Sidon might actually be tied with you, though. I hope you don't mind sharing first place?"

"I guess I could share with him," Nina said, pretending to think hard about it. "After all, he'd most definitely claim to be delighted to share first place with me!!!!!!!"

"I mean, it's Sidon," Vette pointed out, and then leaned hard into a Zora accent. "Why, Nina! It's a pleasure, no, it's an absolute honor to find myself here in such prestigious company! Why, I couldn't have hoped for a finer individual to, as they say, tie with!"

"Vette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina squealed, laughing so hard that she stumbled over her feet. "Vette, no!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Tell me I'm wrong! Go on! Tell me!"

She had to rearrange a puppy just so she could point at Nina and grin.

"You can't, can you?"

"Oh, he'd say that!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she insisted, still laughing. "But secretly, he'd be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!"

"Well, then," Vette replied, smiling, "I guess I would have to kiss him better."

A very Sidon-specific treat, that.

"That would make him feel better," Nina agreed, giggling. "And make him feel secure in his place in your affections!!!!!"

At tied for number one. Sure!

Really, Nina and Prompto probably actually were closer to being tied. Sidon had his own category. But loyalty to her roommate meant that Vette had to make certain concessions about who belonged in first place, here.

"I mean, I do try to make him feel secure..."

She wasn't so sure she always managed. But she sure tried.

"I'm sure he appreciates that," Nina said, then had to laugh. "You seem more secure about it, at least!!!!!!!!"

"I mean, it's pretty hard to deny that he's head-over-heels," Vette admitted, her voice dropping down low. "Doesn't mean I don't think he's out of his mind, too. But I won't complain."

Her lips twitched.

"There's, like, a quote????? That goes something like 'If you've never lost your sanity, you've never been in love'. So, really, that sounds like he's doing it right!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I would beat you for using the L-word," Vette declared, "but the only thing within reach is Nawara, here," she indicated a particularly puffy pomeranian pup, "and he's not for throwing at people."
