Second floor common room- Wednesday evening

Hanging out in a common room had been a much better option than hanging out in a dark room by herself, especially once Sabine showed up and found the fireplace going. Maybe it'd be smarter to sleep out here tonight?

In the meantime, though, it was definitely important to go through the fridge and make sure anything was going to go bad fast got out and eaten, right? So if you wanted an excuse to eat cold pizza and ice cream in front of a fire, here it was!

"No, no, we've got that," Peebee said, and because she didn't feel like moving biotically yanked a piece of pizza toward herself and snagged it out of the air. "But cold and ice all the time? Ugh. Boring."

"Fun with gravity, basically," Peebee said around a mouthful of pizza. "You don't really strike me as the type to want the technical explanation anyway, but that's about the gist of it. Might want to be careful for a bit, though. I get a little static electricity buildup afterward. What is up with this storm, anyway? Talk about an extreme weather shift. Not to mention a totally different tone from the singing gremlins and candy swords."

"I had noticed that when I was researching the place." Peebee made a face. "Makes sense, but the timing right up against the parade of cute weirdness is pretty sneaky. Impressive, almost. The other stuff got a little annoying sometimes, but this? This is a whole different level of inconvenience."

"Ew. I hadn't thought of that." Peebee shuddered. "If this keeps up, nobody is going anywhere for a while. That's going to be a problem for anyone trying to head out for break."

"I can't even get a good handle on the tech that goes into the damn things," Peebee grumbled; this was a long standing annoyance of hers. "So I couldn't say. Who knows? Maybe that'll be fine, but anyone going by the causeway is going to be screwed?"

"You know, I tried to code up a program to predict Fandom weather just so I could figure it out, and I swear it laughed at me when I tried to run it?" Peebee flung up her hands dramatically, but she looked amused. "And since I'm half convinced it would change things up just to spite us if we thought we had a solid prediction . . ."

Well, timing-wise there was a pretty well established pattern by now, but Peebee kind of wanted to have more faith in the island's whimsical nature.

“I mean, I tried,” Peebee said. “Only took me all semester and it’s still probably in about the alpha testing stage, but I made the effort, so yay? I learn best when I’m figuring things out on the go, really. Really hands-on, as it were.”

She paused and glanced over at the fireplace, tilting her head. “Huh. I don’t remember — does that ever get lit? Because I don’t think I’ve seen it, if it has. Handy, anyway.”

“Ah yes, the surprise I Never party,” Peebee said, grinning. “That was fun. Sometimes the island gives us all a little gift with its whimsy. Other times, well.”
