Roof Emo Garden, Thursday Afternoon

Keyleth hadn't made her way up to the dorm roof before today for some reason, and that was a shame since she'd clearly been missing out on the little garden she'd discovered up here, with its fascinating spiky little plants.

After the experience of having an unexpected shark crash into the simulated common room during class today, being around the plants was oddly soothing -- as was the altitude, which made her feel a little more at home. She busied herself with conjuring water to fill a bucket with which to tend to the plants, then carefully examining them and using her druidcraft to coax some of the more slowly growing buds and shoots into a healthier state.

It was a comforting way to spend an afternoon, really.

[OOC: Post is open, of course!]

"Quiet places usually are," she mused. "That actually sounds like something I'd like to draw."

Norman glanced up at her from where he'd been looking, out toward the graveyard.

"The deer? Or the deer in the graveyard specifically?"

Because one was awesome, and the other was evocative in its own way, though those deer were generally ghosts themselves.

"The deer in the graveyard. It's just a nice image," she said.

Norman nodded thoughtfully.

"I mean," he mused, "if you want somebody to just stand around reading out loud from a book or something so you can draw the deer, I can do that. I spend a lot of time in the graveyard anyway."

"Sure," she said, smiling a little. "What kind of book do you read to deer?"

"Something boring," Norman replied. "I don't know, maybe an economics textbook. The really dry stuff. Or just stand around reading off a whole book of monologues."

After Dee's first class, monologues were still kind of fresh on Norman's mind, yes.
seriesofbaddecisions: (okay so)

"Monologues. It would help keep me awake," she said.

"I'll swing by the library and see if they have anything that isn't too tedious, then," Norman laughed. "I can't promise my delivery will be any good. I had a drama teacher back home who was a little... over the top."

A pause.

"Actually, the one teaching here now is, too. I'm beginning to worry about the future of the entertainment industry in general, and I like cheesy movies."

"I guess over the top can be entertaining..." she tried.

"Maybe in... really small doses," Norman offered. "I kind of wish I had that much enthusiasm."

But that wasn't really his thing.

"Oh, the point of that much enthusiasm is definitely that you see it and then you get to leave," Sabine said.

"Yeah, I usually mostly just feel like I need a nap after that kind of thing," Norman admitted. "Or maybe to just hide away and read comic books for the rest of the afternoon."
seriesofbaddecisions: (just about neutral)

[personal profile] seriesofbaddecisions 2019-01-11 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Would you rather be off reading comic books anyway?" Sabine checked.

"... Only sometimes."

Yes. The answer was yes.

"Nothing wrong with that," she said.

She was just on to you.

Norman laughed a little and ducked his head.

"I'm not as bad as I used to be, anyway," he offered. "But... yeah. Comics are easier than people."
