Third Floor Common Room; Monday Morning [09/02].

Wayne supposed he probably could've done a better job at tellin' the new kids about Monday morning breakfast. There weren't much he could do about it now, though, except maybe hope that the girls had managed to spread a little bit of it by word of mouth, and trust in the ventilations system in here to take all those delicious aromas of a homecooked meal and spread it conveniently through the halls of the dormitory building. It'd be nice, to have some new faces join in on the tradition, realleh, so maybe he'd have to try to mention it if he wound up talking with any of them through the week, especially with classes and everything.

The fact that everything he'd picked up yesterday that he'd need was still there and exactly as it should be was a bit of a relief, and Wayne got to work, making sure each and every pancake was the fluffiest, that each slice of bacon had just the right amount of crisp, that there was more than enough coffee ready to go in the pot, and that there were more'n enough eggs to make however a person might like 'em...though he felt an odd reluctance to make too many of 'em sunny side up.

And so it was breakfast time, a good hearty meal to get yer day...and yer semester...started!

Well, a tradition was a tradition, and, though Wayne's tradition hadn't strictly become Vette's (sometimes she liked to sleep in while the mun was murdered by work!), that didn't change the fact that she was up and at'em this morning, still in a pretty darn good mood in the wake of the whole bus incident.

Yes, even after having her lekku flicked.

"Wayne! How are ya now?"

She was even cheerful enough to beat him to the punch, grinning as she did so.

The vents had definitely been working to do its job of wafting the scent of breakfast to various parts of the dorms; at least it had for Tisarwat, who, groaning and hungover from a night of exploring the impressive variety of alcohol that this planet had to offer, had decided that maybe that hadn't been her best decision ever, especially when there was no Medic here that could just give her a few drugs to help her get over the worst of it. Whatever it was that was cooking, though, smelled like just the sort of thing to sop up a night of drinking.

Of course, she realized that whoever was making the food was likely making it without wearing gloves, so she had a very important decision to make between various levels of nausea, but, in the end, her stomach won out over her sense of decency, and she went to go see if she could find out where the food actually was with small, slow, and careful steps.

Eventually, she found it on the next floor up, drifting into the room and looking toward the spread of food with an expression of both longing and revulsion for the fact that her fears were confirmed. Nary a glove in sight. But her stomach churned uncomfortably for whatever that beautifully greasy meat was.

And she winced, because that stomach gurgle was loud enough to make her poor head ache a little more.

She really hadn't eaten much since she'd gotten here. And she wasn't likely to eat much at all if she kept just avoiding food because it involved people not wearing gloves. Desperate times....desperate measures.

"That smells amazing," she said, feeling the awkwardness of not knowing exactly what the social situation here was, either, especially since she'd come up from a different floor, in addition to just the room sort of still spinning a little bit.

"Good morning, Wayne," Lana said with a smile as she came in. "How are you this morning?"

"Gooooooooooooood mooooooooooooooooooorning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Ah yes, that too was tradition and Nina's grin was unrepentant as she bounced into the common room.

Keyleth had said she'd try to stop in for breakfast more often, and look, here she was!

"Aw, you're so good at this!" She'd just watched the whole meticulous cooking process from the doorway for a little bit before actually making her way into the common room, and she was impressed. "Happy first day of a new semester, everybody?"

Elisabeth had been up for a few hours now, learning the ins and outs of modern plumbing and then searching for wherever the kitchens were for breakfast. She just happened upon the third floor common room and lingered, uncertain, in the doorway.

On the one hand, there was food and if there was anything she'd learned at the library, it was that an apprentice who wasn't willing to grab food whenever possible ended up going hungry.

On the other hand, this didn't appear to be official breakfast, but rather a group of students, so it was possible she was intruding on a private thing.

So she was going to lurk quietly for a few minutes, as much as a girl over six feet tall could lurk.

Since it was the first day of classes Kuroko figured it was important to make a good first impression. Which meant she'd spent a lot of time trying to make it look like she hadn't spent any time on her appearance. Carefully understated make-up, a precisely-selected casual dress. And she thought she'd done a good job.

Which meant she came out of her room a bit later than she would have otherwise. Was that the smell of someone cooking?

She curiously walked into the common room and looked around.

Kyubey sauntered on in, a small white cat-thing, with his ears perked and with a jaunty little wave of his tail as he surveyed everyone in the room.

"Hello, everyone!" he greeted cheerfully.

Jules was... vaguely aware of this whole breakfast thing. Didn't know Wayne all that well, aside from 'that guy from the Wilderness class who shared her opinion regarding the ability of their teachers to handle any actual wilderness', of course, but wasn't about to let that stop her. She'd been here a whole summer now, it was sinking in that she really wasn't getting back to Fennbirn any time soon, might as well be social with more folks.

"C'mon, Cam," she urged her familiar. "Looks like there's plenty of bacon to go around." Maybe not an entire mountain cat's breakfast's worth of bacon, but enough to keep her from complaining too loudly, anyway.
