Third Floor Common Room; Monday Morning [09/16].
Wayne already got up at stupid o'clock in the morning, out of habit more'n anything else, since it wasn't like he had a whole lot of chorin' to do around here, but he'd gotten up just a bit earlier than usual to prep for this week's breakfast. He'd gotten that bug in his brain about maybe mixing things up a little bit, and the omelettes he'd make as he went along, but the quiches he was planning on making would take some doing, and he wanted to make sure they were ready by the time people usually started showing up for breakfast.
Sometimes, it was okay to make some alterations to tradition; helped keep it from getting boring. But it had also been pointed out to him that some things shouldn't be deviated from, and he couldn't agree more, so there were also plenty of pancakes on the way, as well. It officially couldn't be Monday Morning Breakfast without pancakes.
This time around, though, he was taking some of those rainbow sprinkles you put on ice cream and sprinkling them onto the pancakes as he poured them, to make them fun and colorful. Sure, Nina might not have appreciated the purple pancakes as much as he'd thought she might, but Delirium had, and so the sprinkles were mostly for her.
So there.

exchange maybe three lines of dialogue with myself before getting sucked into other thingssocialize a little and give everyone the option of having some proper tea from her flask if they wanted. She still wasn't going to actually have any of the breakfast. Not unless she managed to convince Wayne to wear gloves while he fixed it, but, from her brief interactions with him so far, she was pretty sure that interaction would not exactly go well. Yet. She'd work on it. And, until then, she would just find a spot to sit on the couch, pouring herself some tea into a cup, and just enjoying the one thing about this place that might have come even close to spending downtime with her Bos in their decade room, small comfort that it was.

"Well enough," she answered, "thank you. How are you this morning?"

shamelessly assumedbare hand, that she was stuffing her face with.Half of what made this breakfast bonding ritual tolerable was that most of it was at least eaten with cutlery.
She had to admit, though, whatever it was she was eating smelled amazing, but she wasn't sure how much of that was just how sparse her diet had been since getting here talking.
But Tisarwat smiled, strained as it was. "It's Tisarwat," she offered. "How are you this morning?"
And after a brief pause: "You brought your own food?"
That definitely made her feel better about her potential plan of doing the same, if she ever managed to get this whole cooking thing to work out for her.

Truthfully, she's doing it to annoy Wayne. "I'm Eleanor Shellstrop. From Arizona."

And then she sauntered in and started to chow down in front of Wayne and his fabulous breakfast of quiches.
Why?
Well she's a bit of a bench, really.
"Whassup cowboy?"

There was a long pause, as Wayne realized that he didn't actually know Eleanor's name yet, which sort of messed with the cadence of his usual greeting.
"Pop-Tart." He nodded, figuring that'll do for now, as he kept flipping pancakes for those among them who liked their morning meals with a little less chance of heart disease. "How are ya now?"

"Just enjoying this delicious and totally nutritious breakfast. That I got for myself. With no help from others," she said with a mouthful of mooby muffin. "What you got on the menu today?"
no subject
"Ohhhh," Wayne drawled a bit, slipping a finished pancake onto the pile that had built up nicely and going in for another omelette, "don't see why it matters to you none, seein' as yer not planning on having any."

But, either way, she was a friend, and there was tradition.
"Nina! How are ya now?"
no subject
And Wayne.
But mostly breakfast.
"How are yo--ohmygosh what have you done to the pancakes?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!"

Wayne paused slightly in his automatic filling of a plate for Nina, squinted at the wall, and then continued until the plate was loaded with quiche, quiche, ommelette and pancakes and he handed it over to her, almost defiantly.
"I added rainbow sprinkles," he informed her, with a squint that just dared her to go on and say something about it.

"Whoa! Slow your roll girl," Eleanor said holding up her hand. "Why are you so loud? Volume control!"

"Yeah. Nobody should be that happy," Eleanor said leaning back from the girl involuntarily. "Wow. Are you on something?"

"Well, like, why wouldn't I????????????????" she asked in return. "Like, right after sleeping—which restores energy, why shouldn't I have all the energy???????????????"
Okay, no, Nina just had all the energy all the time until she was out like a light.

She saw the sprinkles. She gasped in complete delight. "Wayne!! You made them pretty! We have pretty pancakes!"
There was a ghost crab riding on her shoulder. He seemed perfectly content to be there since he'd learned that he couldn't fall off her shoulder even if he tried. Not that he had tried, mind, but crabs and heights normally didn't go together. "Norman! Do crabs eat pancakes? Or sprinkles?" Norman waved his claws in the air for a moment in something that was either a crab-style shrug or a gesture showing he was willing to try. She was totally going to try to feed him some pancakes.

Wayne even smiled a little as he nodded his confirmation. "We have pretty pancakes," he agreed. "Delirium." He nodded. "Barnabas." And again to him. "....Norman, is it?" To the crab on Delirium's shoulder. "How are ya now?"
no subject
Del nodded. "I guess he was feeling crabby this week." And no, that wasn't intended as a pun. "Could you please make a crab-sized pancake for him? I don't know if he eats pancakes but a me-sized pancake is just too big, I think?"
Beat.
"But I would like two pretty pancakes please? Wayne, they're so pretty! How are you now? Are you in a good mood? Is that why the pancakes are pretty?"

"I'm well, thank you. It smells delicious in here today. Not pancakes this week?"
