Third Floor Common Room; Monday Morning [09/30].
Well, now, that was an exciting weekend. It wasn't every day that a simple Letterkenny farmboy found himself on the edges of creatin' what he could only imagine would be quite the international incident. And Wayne found he didn't really much care for excitement, anyway, so, while he really was going to miss having Katy around, he was mostly just glad to have things go back to normal again.
Normal fer this place, anywhey.
He got up a little extra early this morning, too, jus' in case he had to go and beat Nina to the punch, not realizing that it wouldn't even be an issue this week. Still, he was glad to see the common room empty when he got there, and he set to the task of getting breakfast started. Because Katy'd mentioned it, he even thought of doing French toast, since apparently Nina made her some (and it had involved cabbage!), but everyone knew French toast was just a waste of time, so fuck all that. He was sticking with the standards: pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruit, so on, so forth. And he had something to do, and it was productive, and so he was feeling pretty alright.

that is TOTALLY ABOUT to be offered in another thread, his plans had been a little derailed.Which, conveniently, meant that he got to follow his nose down a floor that morning and walk into the third floor common room.
"Please tell me you're sharing," he said. "That smells amazing."
no subject
"Plenty to go around," he assured him. "How are ya now?"
no subject
"Good! Better, now, since I don't have to scrounge up a stale poptart," he said, with a grin. "Only really bad thing about coming to school here is missing out on my sister's cooking. You do this often, or is this a special occasion?"
no subject
"Every Monday!" said Wayne with a stout, proud sort of nod. "It's tradition. I'll fix you up a plate, if you like. Not sure it'll compare to yer sister's, but...what'll ya have?"
no subject
It all really did smell really good. ... Mostly the bacon.

And, since Wayne could put together a plate with a little of everything in his sleep by now, he had it ready and passed it over to Simon in no time. "Way ya go," he said. "There's coffee in the pot, juice in the fridge, jus' help yerself."
no subject
One satisfying gulp later, he sat down with the plate and his steaming mug, and had his first bite of the breakfast. "Ugh, yes," he moaned, after swallowing. "Thank you, this is exactly what I needed this morning. You said every Monday?"

Simon took a few more bites, before asking, "So how are you finding shop class? You look pretty confident in there."
no subject
"An' shop class's just about the first actual useful class I think I've had around here," said Wayne, even if he did enjoy all the ones where he got to punch things. "I know most of it, but there's some new stuff, like this foundry thing we're doin' now, that's a bit new. How're you liking it?"
Wayne didn't really pay much attention to what anyone else was doing in that class, unless their name was Shuri, because he was usually just a little too honed in on his own work, and he tended to be a bit singularly minded like that.

Simon noticed a lot of things around him; wasn't always great at knowing what they meant, but he saw them! And watching people like Wayne, who clearly knew at least a bit what they were about, helped Simon feel a little more confident in his own work.

He nodded, figguring the rest went without sayin'.

Internally, Simon winced as soon as the words came out of his mouth -- 'stand-up guy'? really? -- but he covered it pretty well.

Ulysses was pretty happy with this free breakfast situation, yes. And apparently it led to interjections like the above.
He'd also almost entirely finished the piece of pancake he'd been chewing on, so it was only a little muffled!

exceptionally cuteboy a smile and waved with his fork. "All of a sudden, I'm glad I've got a job on Mondays now if it means I get to wake up in time for this."... Because without the job, he would still absolutely be sleeping in, even knowing that breakfast was a thing.

"Demon Marcus," he explained, looking down at his clothes -- the first of many new outfits he'd be buying. "... And, like, I'm not going to lie, it's mostly for the employee discount." And because Sparkle was awesome, and Simon didn't want to ask his parents, 'Hey, can you buy me an entire new wardrobe, because I just found fashion?'
... Okay, not mostly for the discount at all, but it was still a big plus.

"I don't think I've been there yet," he said, frowning as his head tilted a good deal to the side. "What kind of stuff do they sell?" A beat. "Or, you, now, I guess. Not 'they'."

Somewhere, far away in Shady Creek, Leah and Nick were laughing at Simon and didn't know why.
no subject
It was mostly just a squiggle in the air. "Like, what style?"

Look, Ulysses was wearing tie-dye in what may or may not have been an ironic way. He was probably going to be disappointed in 'trendy and upscale'.
"Well, maybe I'll come by and check it out sometime, anyway." Maybe because Simon's self-conscious laugh was kinda cute? "I mean, winter's coming and everything, probably gotta buy some new stuff at some point."
no subject
... And anyway he kinda wanted the cute guy to come visit him at the shop some time.
"But, yeah, we can definitely help you with winter stuff if you need it. I mean, I can. Help you."
no subject
He had his heart set on some completely ridiculous winter coat with a massive fake fur trim, or something.
But that was not really something he was thinking of right this moment. "I'm Ulysses, by the way." A beat. "Or just Uly."
no subject
He shoved a forkful of food in his mouth to shut himself up before he started rambling again.
