Sixth floor common room- Sunday evening

The way Alexis was thinking, they'd have a raging party tonight, wake up tomorrow with mild hangovers, and then spend the rest of the day at the beach, because wasn't that what Memorial Day was all about?

She did not know she was expected to be in class tomorrow.

The lights were lower, there was a dance floor, the music was actually probably a little loud, and there were tables set up with all sorts of beverages. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. She also was maybe iffy on exactly what Memorial Day was commemorating, because aside from the distinct red, white and blue theme, it was very much a celebration of something or other.

[Open party! Feel free to have gotten a mass text invite or having seen the flyers or heard radio.]

"Is there a reason I wouldn't be?" asked Freya, with a curious tilt of her head, an apprehensive swish of her tail.

She'd thought about it, a few time, and would have tried harder if she wasn't finding some of the classes useful or interesting....and if the people at Portalocity hadn't seemed wholly confused and kept sending her off to a different planet called Gaia...

"Yes," Freya allowed. "Sir Fratley. Of Burmecia. I don't suppose you've heard news yet? I am still searching, but I've yet to turn up trace of him. I feel that perhaps there is still a reason I am here, though, that perhaps this is merely a step on a much longer journey. He always did tell me there is great value and knowledge in patience."

"Yes," Freya allowed, with a small smile and her tail-swishing following suit, "even though I have been disgustingly neglected it's different
But the people are nice," if weirdly homogeneous in species, "and I think I can learn a lot from my classes. And it would appear," she gestured at the room, "there is time to unwind as well."

Just because she was a dragon night, that didn't mean she couldn't enjoy loosening her cravat every once in a while.

But Freya's hair was down, Alexis, and would be entirely in her face if it weren't for the whole protruding snout thing. But perhaps 'remove her ridiculous hat's might be a better way to put it, in her case.

"I have been interested to try some local brews," she ventured, eyeing now the drinks and snack table. "I hope it's better than what you get I some of the taverns around Gaia, but that shouldn't be difficult."

"I'll have to try a good sampling, then," said Freya, because it did take a lot of booze to get a giant rat girl tipsy. "What's the occasion, anyway? I'm not yet familiar with any of this world's common festivities."

"I gathered that much," said Freya, "but what is it we're actually memorializing? Some fallen warrior? A battle? An act of liberation? As far as festivities go, the name is rather vague..."

Freya considered this.

"Are they memorializing their old matresses?" she asked.

This was a very strange world, Alexis.

"This is a very strange world, Alexis," said Freya, because what else was there to be said?
