Second Floor Common Room; Late Tuesday Morning [08/30].

Yesterday had been a lot for Libby, but it had also reminded her that she had a lot of friends and a lot of support here, and, even with all the things she struggled to push past all spelled out as clear as day for nearly everyone to see, they were still there for her. And she was there for them, too, because even though yesterday reminded Libby that she'd been through a lot, it also reminded her that, well....so had most people, here. They'd all had their baggage, but it didn't matter, because they also had each other, and that was...incredibly, necessarily heartening.

And it was her conversation with Charlie in particular that had her swinging by the store after her morning class, with the whole rest of her day free and clear, and set to work at putting together some breakfast. Or probably brunch, at this point, but she liked cooking, and she especially liked cooking for other people, and she really hadn't done it nearly enough lately, and clearly set out to do just that.

So it wouldn't be long at all before the telltale aromas of a good old breakfast casserole started to fill the room, while Libby took to making some fresh squeezed orange juice to go with it while it was baking and, even though she didn't drink it herself, she got some coffee going in the coffee maker, too.

And it just felt nice. It felt good. And she certainly felt a lot lighter than she had yesterday, and she was determined to keep it that way.

Gray blinked once. Then again.

Then he said, "Wait, you're not a demon?" Well, didn't he feel dumb!

"No. I'm actually what's known, in my world at least, as a Mutant." Kurt gave a somewhat awkward grin. "Basically we're humans who have genes that give us special or unique abilities or powers. Some are physical, some are not so obvious, and a few of us have some of both. But no... I'm more human than demon, despite the looks."

Huh. "I'm sorry," Gray said. "I just assumed. I've never met a demon who looked exactly like you, but I've definitely met some that were kinda similar? But I mean, yeah, demons are pretty common if you travel in the right circles in my world. Most humans'll never meet one--or at least won't know they did, because of like, shapeshifting or glamour or whatever--but, um, I'm not human, so...I've known a lot of demons, but I'd never met a mutant before."

"Nothing to apologize for!" Kurt said earnestly with a reassuring grin. "It was kinda nice to not have first reactions be one of fear or hatred. But it does sound interesting, the world you are from, with humans and demons and everything else."

Kurt hesitated, he had already pried enough and he didn't want to make Gray uncomfortable by asking another personal question, but he was really curious about that 'not human' comment.

"If there are demons and humans and all, are there angels and other types of beings where you are from, Gray?"

"Angels mostly stay in the Celestial Realm," Gray said. "Unless they're fallen, of course. Every angel I've ever met has been a real butthead. They're really snobby and don't like to mix with mortals. Or even immortals, if they're from Earth. But there are the Nephilim, and dragons, and werewolves and other kinds of shapeshifters--well, dragons can shapeshift, too--and vampires and witches and fairies and whatnot." You know. The usual.

Kurt listened with growing interest as Gray described his home world.

"That sounds so amazing! Kinda sounds like the world our DnD game is set in. All kinds of different races and people and jobs! It must be really interesting living with dragons and vampires and such! I've heard there's vampires here on the island! But I have never met them.... that I know of."

"I guess so," Gray said. "It's just sort of normal to me. I do know some vampires back home, but I don't think I've met any of the ones here, either. Although I sort of knew they were around, because the bar stocks that Tru Blood stuff for them."

"So the vampires and fae and all that are normal for you, kinda like how Mutants and special powers and such are for me. I think that's really cool!"
