There were still peaches in the common room that morning, and fresh ones, too, if Luma's sense of smell was anything to go by (and it usually was a very reliable source). Which meant that she, hair still damp around her shoulders after the shower she took after returning back from some tkme in the woods to get the linger smell of the fish market from class out of her nostrils, and dressed in her faded, yellowing lace nightgown better suited for a girl rather than a young woman in her twenties, was absolutely giddy to discover them.

"Heavenly," she gushed to herself as she plucked the largest one out of the basket on the table, holding it to her nose and breathing in deeply as she sunk down onto one of the sofas. She reveled in it for a few more moments before taking a big bite, the soft and fuzzy flesh tearing away into her mouth all the easier with those sharp teeth of hers, juicing running down her chin that she only bothered to wipe away once it threatened to drip.

And even with the temptation to just devour it right up, she took her time with a happy sigh, before turning her attention to her book.

And likely getting sticky peach juice on the pages.

Sorry, library! Of course it was a borrowed one, too.

Flash had finally made it to the lobby of this building he'd woken up in! At this rate he'd be at his desk at the Department of Mammal Vehicles right on time when it opened on Monday Morning. He loved it when he was on schedule.

Look at him go! Such blazing speed! You know, for a sloth.

Flash didn't realize it was Saturday, so he was on his way to work at the DMV (Department of Mammal Vehicles) at his usual lightning-fast speed.

Okay, it had taken him a few hours to get to this point, but for a sloth? Incredibly fast! Wow, look at him...inch along.

He'd get there eventually. Maybe.

Gray missed Graham (and Triumph), but he was glad of the extra closet space, especially now that his Converse collection was once again expanding. (Moving out at the end of the summer? He'd cross that bridge when he came to it. There was still space in Raiden's spare room!...probably. He had put a lot of Squishmallows in there. (It was fine. He could sleep on the Squishmallows.))

He was camped out on the common room's couch with his tablet for his shopping adventures. He was definitely planning to customize a pair of low tops, and he'd added the high tops with flames and a crop top to his cart already, but he was trying to figure out...

"Oh, thank all the little gods, they have zippers." No way he was lacing and unlacing those beasts every time he wanted to wear them. Sloth would never stand for that nonsense.

Sure, it was Saturday, but that didn't mean Flash didn't have work to do at the Department of Mammal Vehicles! He'd gotten up bright and early in order to really hit the ground running, and now, a few hours later, he was well on his way to work!

At this rate of lightning speed, he might make it to the front door of the dorm by noon.

Gray had a final today, and Gray knew he really needed to get up and get to his final, but Gray had woken up in a snuggie, so...look, he'd made it as far as the common room before Sloth and the snuggie nap field had overcome him and he'd ended up on the couch. Maybe in a few minutes he'd be able to proceed with going to class.

Maybe. But he was so cozy...

Gray had, thankfully, been awake enough this morning to notice that what was coming out of the shower head was definitely not water before he stepped under it, and he also happened to be something of an expert in the field of 'not able to take a shower right now,' even if it was usually for a very different reason. So he'd gone back to his room, pulled out his stash, and now he was posted up in the common room with an assortment of dry shampoo, hand sanitizer, and wet wipes for anyone who might need some assistance in the hygiene field this morning.

If you had stuck your head under the flow of hot chocolate before you realized, then your case was probably more advanced than he was prepared for, but maybe the wet wipes could help?

Gray had, after much consideration and attempts to fit them on his bed, come to the conclusion that it was possible he had looted too many Squishmallows from the Walmart in the woods. But if he'd left them behind they all would have burned or melted or whatever it was that Squishmallows did, so really he'd been rescuing them. He'd been providing a service.

And now he needed to rehome them so he didn't wake up in weird contortions in his own bed. He was used to it in whatever other random location he fell asleep, but his bed? No thank you. So he'd selected his favorites (and held back a few bird-themed ones for Arden to pick from), and now he'd set up the rest in the lobby of the dorm with a sign that read, Free to a Good Home!

Squishmallows for all!

Gray wasn't sure if anyone new had moved into the dorms this weekend or not--the 'FU' thing had him confused, plus he'd slept through a lot of the welcome picnic--but if they had, he wanted to greet them properly, and if they hadn't, well, his friends and neighbors deserved a good breakfast anyway, right?

Not that Gray had cooked said breakfast. Instead he'd put in a call and Pizza Planet had delivered breakfast pizzas...and a container of perfectly golden waffles, of course. Raiden knew who he was cooking for here.

A few weeks ago, Eleanor had gone down to the common room for breakfast and found a nice little blip of socialization with her classmates that recalled a much less complicated time in her life, and that was pretty nice. She wouldn't go so far as to say she expected to catch lightning in a bottle a second time, but she did think that maybe it wouldn't hurt to give it another try.

This time with the attempt to make some breakfast beyond cereal. Nothing too complicated, she was just going to focus on learning how to make pancakes.

It was...a process, to be sure. There was a plate of malformed and somewhat burned pancakes already stacked up by the stove, but she liked to think she was getting progressively better and finally got to a point where they looked mostly edible, and then she could dig in a little and feel...well, maybe not entirely proud, but at least accomplished and fed.

Mostly.

It was such a dark, gloomy, rainy, sometimes stormy, humid day that Eleanor didn't have much motivation to do anything, but she did, she realize, sort of go into a kind of automatic mode. She'd woken up early, as if her body still felt as though it had to be ready for mass, bright and early, or else she'd face the wrath of the nuns, but there was no mass to go to. She knew there was a church on the island, of course, and considered going there just to scratch some habitual itch, but instead, she rerouted to the common room, poked around for some food for breakfast, and made herself some tea, after failing to figure out quite how to use the drip machine for coffee on the counter.

She sat at the table with a bowl of bright and colorful cereal, hunched over it and the book of poetry splayed out before her, and just sort of enjoying the quiet solitude of the morning, figuring everyone else would still be sleeping, especially with nuns to harass and harangue them toward mass, especially with the warm, gloomy, lethargic weather.

With the last party they had down at the pool, Graham had made a few hints and allusions to another, second party before the start of the summer session, and, well, now was the time! After mentioning it on radio and spreading the word at the picnic and of course spreading around handwavey flyers and texts, the circle was now complete, as they met the "End of the Semester" party with a "Start of the Semester" party! And while one was underneath the dorms, this one would be on top of it!

So, of course, the roof was decked out with decorations of a very summer-y nature, since that was the semester they were heading into, with music playing to match that vibe, a few beach balls and beach umbrellas floating around, too. And, of course, a table with a lot of moddable snacks, drinks, and Graham's proudest touch: a Neapolitan style sheet cake with the words "LET'S ALL HAVE A SUN-SATIONAL SUMMER!!" written on it, and, below it, in parentheses: "(Seas the Day!)"

So come on up, make the porg intern happy, and have a good time celebrating the start of the semester with a good party, a great view, and even better friends!

Gray should have known better.

He should have ordered food from somewhere else. But Raiden was family, and, honestly, that meant he knew how good his food was. But also, he was Raiden, and if restaurants around here were prone to send too much food before, well...Raiden. Sending food to his baby brother.

And now Gray had a Pizza Situation on his hands in this here common room. Also there were...dumplings? From Pizza Planet? He didn't even know.

He really hoped someone came along to help eat some of this soon. He wasn't sure he could fit it all in the fridge.

Gray was struggling today. Sloth was bad enough that he'd given in to the inevitable and planned to spend the afternoon in bed, watching anime on his tablet, except...no matter what he did, his tablet would only show videos of a burning yule log. So he'd managed to drag himself into the common room to see what was on TV, only to find that it was...the yule log. On every. Single. Channel. And the effort of getting here had burned through what little energy he had left, so now he was sprawled gracelessly on the couch, staring at the flickering flames on the screen and waiting to be able to move around again.

This was fine. Everything was fine.

Gods, he was so bored.

Oh, Libby was absolutely loving the candelabra that had shown up that day, and the fact that their moody lighting was made even more so by everywhere appearing just a little bit darker today. Despite still being surrounded by quite a few modern trappings, they made it exceptionally easy for her to just feel transported to a different time, in the past, long before the wonders of electricity, and she dove deep into it, spending her entire morning, curled up and cozy and diving into some epic medieval-style fantasy book to read by candlelight, to better feel like she was there.

As afternoon turned into evening, she was hoping to switch over to some nice gothic horror, but, before she did that, she'd have to take a break for lunch. So, taking a smaller of the candelabra with her so that when she swept down the hallway to the common room, she'd feel like a heroine in one of those stories, uncertain what terrors may lurk around the corner, but content to know that the worst thing she may encounter here (hopefully!) was maybe a gremlin in the shadows or some questionable leftovers in the fridge.

She didn't even bother turning on the lights in the room, enjoying working by candlelight as she put together a nice sandwich, portable so she could take it back to her room and get back to reading, with a nice mug of hot cocoa, too.

[[ open common room is definitely open! ]]

Maybe it was a little foolish or silly to get all tangled up in strange feelings about something like helping someone out with their laundry, but getting tangled up in strange feelings seemed pretty much Libby's default setting these days. She was really hoping that maybe the school trip would help get her mind off of some of it, but she also knew that they'd all still be there when she got back. But, she figured, they could wait. She probably wasn't going to have much opportunity for things like trips to different countries if it was true what Just had told her, that their father was looking to set her up with a courtship and a marriage, so she really needed to enjoy it while she could.

But she was trying not to think about that right now. She was just trying to focus on a simple thing like laundry, and helping out a friend (who, by the sounds of it, really needed it) with his, and nothing more than that, and her own, much smaller pile of clothes that didn't really need to be taken care of, but it was probably a good idea to get it out of the way before leaving for the trip, anyway.

There had been an awful lot of talking (and chewing!) around pies and pizzas and empanadas lately, and Graham was fairly certain that he was not likely to be bereft of any of those things any time soon. But it did get him thinking that it was a bit selfish, wasn't it, to not sometimes provide something back? The only thing was that the only thing he really knew how to make was his signature choco-chip pancakes....and so, clearly, this morning, choco-chip pancakes for the whole dorms (or, well, for anyone who showed up that morning or for anyone who raided the leftovers after the fact) it shall be!

It didn't take much to gather up the ingredients and get to work, and he'd almost thought about having Triumph make the trek up the stairs to join him for something like this, but Triumph was having a bit of a lazy day, so Graham decided he'd just bring some down for him later, and, whistling and humming some idle, random tune as he did so, he got to work on seeing just how tall of a stack he could make before anyone showed up. Maybe he could even get it to the ceiling! He'd probably have to work pretty fast, though, and you couldn't rush a good choco-chip pancake!

Yesterday had been a lot for Libby, but it had also reminded her that she had a lot of friends and a lot of support here, and, even with all the things she struggled to push past all spelled out as clear as day for nearly everyone to see, they were still there for her. And she was there for them, too, because even though yesterday reminded Libby that she'd been through a lot, it also reminded her that, well....so had most people, here. They'd all had their baggage, but it didn't matter, because they also had each other, and that was...incredibly, necessarily heartening.

And it was her conversation with Charlie in particular that had her swinging by the store after her morning class, with the whole rest of her day free and clear, and set to work at putting together some breakfast. Or probably brunch, at this point, but she liked cooking, and she especially liked cooking for other people, and she really hadn't done it nearly enough lately, and clearly set out to do just that.

So it wouldn't be long at all before the telltale aromas of a good old breakfast casserole started to fill the room, while Libby took to making some fresh squeezed orange juice to go with it while it was baking and, even though she didn't drink it herself, she got some coffee going in the coffee maker, too.

And it just felt nice. It felt good. And she certainly felt a lot lighter than she had yesterday, and she was determined to keep it that way.

Gray's cunning plan to smuggle Raiden into the dorm to make waffles for him had hit a couple of stumbling blocks. Firstly, no one was smuggling Ray much of anywhere, and secondly, when he'd woken up his brother had still been asleep. He'd considered going to his apartment, but: asleep, and also, who knew if he'd unpacked the waffle iron yet? So then he'd just hung around the common room practicing his puppy eyes for if someone came in he could convince to make waffles, but it had still been pretty early when he got up. Thanks, Sloth-induced lack of a normal sleep schedule!

So now he was on Plan D: making his own darn waffles. He could do this! He'd done it once before. Sure, this time he'd been interrupted by a couple of sleepy spells (Sloth was clearly making him pay for all the caffeine yesterday), one of which had resulted in a bit of a mess involving an egg he'd had to clean up when he woke, but...could be worse!

He was getting to the Do NOT fall asleep while the waffle iron is plugged in!!! part of the recipe, though, and he was really hoping someone else showed up soon. You know, for safety.

And also to eat some of these waffles, because this recipe made a ton.

Gray had made it this far on his way back to his room after today's shenanigans, but then he hadn't quite made it to the couch. Instead, he'd fallen asleep sitting on the floor and leaning against one end of said couch, and when he woke up he didn't bother getting up from the floor, in part because the floor was fine, the floor was comfortable enough, and in part his phone was blowing up with a family squabble that turned out to be Alastair refusing to wear the shirt Castor had bought him for Echo Bay's Pride parade, the one day of the year they could reliably get Al to wear a t-shirt in public, because this year Castor had pushed the envelope and bought him *gasp* a tank top.

Gray jumped right into the fray with, But your arms will look so great in it! which was both blatant pandering to Al's Pride and, you know, true, and Alastair responded almost immediately with, I am not wearing underwear in public, which set off a wave of razzing him about whether he knew what decade it was that then developed into Bellamy spamming the chat with pictures of people rocking underwear at Pride, at which point Gray closed the chat and left his brothers to it, and started considering his options for food delivery.

"Ooh, sushi sounds good," he said aloud.

Libby's grandmother had been sending her a small weekly allowance, knowing that a little spending money could make living away from home a little easier, and she was mostly saving up that money for an emergency (or, if she was honest with herself, to maybe buy a new dress for the next school dance) or using it to buy stuff to make breakfasts and other meals in the common room. That morning, though, seeing as the nice little windfall was growing, she was a little tempted to head into town, into the pastry shop, and maybe treat herself to something that she might otherwise never splurge on.

But even as soon as she thought about it, she felt guilty about it. It was kind of selfish, wasn't it? Especially on a Sunday. Not to mention just sort of careless, not a very useful use of her funds at all.

There was, thankfully, a good solution to handling her sudden sweet tooth and her worry about being waste and self-serving, and that was obviously to just head to the store to pick up what she needed and make something, which would not only be more cost effective, but that she could share with everyone else, too.

And she had no doubt that the smell of cinnamon rolls baking in the common room would get at least a few people's attention.

She just hoped she didn't end up burning them, and had to remind herself to let them cool first before adding the icing.

Before Gray had left for summer camp, he had lightly bullied Raiden into teaching him how to make waffles, which Raiden had done patiently over a couple of different tutoring sessions interrupted by naps, and then he had written out the recipe step-by-step on top of that. There were just a few little problems: the first was that Raiden had unthinkingly written the recipe in amounts meant to feed seven men, one of whom was, you know, Gluttony, rather than the amounts for when he just made waffles for Gray (and maybe one more on the side for himself as a snack). It was...a lot.

The other problem was the part that read, Plug the waffle iron in now, followed by, in large, underlined letters, DO NOT FALL ASLEEP WHILE THE WAFFLE IRON IS PLUGGED IN!!!

It was at this hurdle that Gray currently found himself.

He had assembled all of the ingredients and equipment before his last nap, and he had set a series of very shrill alarms on his phone (named, in order, 'Don't,' 'Burn,' The,' 'WAFFLES,' '>:(', and '(or the dorm down)'). He was as ready as he was going to get. He stood holding the waffle iron plug, muttering to himself, "Come on, Gray, you can do it, nice and easy..." before he shoved the prongs into the socket and jumped back with a nervous little squeak. "Okay, okay. That's done. Next step..."

He sure hoped other people wanted waffles this morning.

Even with all the excitement of his arrival yesterday (or perhaps, actually, because of it), Graham was still buzzing a little over the prospect of his new school and the potential adventures that awaited him. As such, he spent his morning exploring the island a little bit more with Triumph and, after getting his mighty mount something to eat before returning him to the stables, realized he himself should probably get something to eat, too. He'd managed to find a pie at the picnic yesterday and had stowed it away in his cloak, but he wanted to hold onto that for safe keepings. And even though a lot of the equipment in the kitchens in the common room were unfamiliar to him, he was intrigued to figure them all out, and so he decided to make some breakfast.

Of course, there was really only one thing Graham knew how to actually cook, and that was choco-chip pancakes! He didn't see any choco-chips in the common room, but he found some at the store, along with a big bag of jelly beans, which he'd pick all the popcorn flavored ones out of later for himself.

In the meantime, though, it was all about figuring out the stove and marveling at the refrigerator and wondering at what sort of arcane vessel the microwave could possibly be in between flipping pancakes and popping jelly beans.
