2nd Floor Common Room (Tuesday)

Elizabeth had added her poster next to Parker's.

It was her only poster at the moment. There was no point in plastering the school with them if she decided not to run in the end.

Vote Elizabeth Weir as Junior Student Council Representative

She headed back to the corner table where she had started her jigsaw puzzle last week.

She looked distracted, and occassionally glanced across at the poster. Why was she running? Was it because she felt that she should?

[[Come and help with the puzzle, or, if anyone wouldn't mind trying to talk her out of this emo funk she's got herself into, that would be very much appreciated!]]

"What's a New Year's Eve kiss?" Lee asks. "I'm sorry to have missed all the partying."

He looks very conspiratorially at Sam and whispers, "It's Maureen. And she didn't look too happy last night." He shrugs, hoping to catch up with her better today as it was a madhouse in the common room last night.

"So how many of you pursued this wild and wet beastie?" he asks, laughing.

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, it's another one of those silly holiday traditions, kind of like mistletoe," Sam explained, gesturing with her apple. "Basically, at midnight, right at the moment it changes to the new year, you kiss someone, and it's supposed to bring you good luck or mean you'll be together for the rest of the year, or something."

"Maureen, huh?" Sam smiled. "Pretty."

Sam thought about that. "Um, there were seven of us, I think--me, Jaye, Marty, Rory, Archie, Callisto, and Crichton. It was a good time, even if most of us did end up swimming in our clothes."

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Lee ponders if gesturing with apples has anything to do with wormhole theory. "Ah," Lee says, nodding.

"I think it suits her," he says, oblivious to the omg first name angst.

"And did you find the squid? And what did you do with it?" Lee asks, a bit confused at what really happened that night. Dun dun DUN DUN.

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"You do?" Sam asked. "She seems more like a Parker to me."

"No," she said, laughing, "we never did find the squid. In fact, we have no idea where it is, but we know for sure it's not in the pool."

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"But the endeavor was good fun, I hope?" he asks, sad that he missed the adventure.

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Sam nodded. "Oh, yes. You'll have to come with us, if there's a next time."

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"I like adventures!" he says impetuously.

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're definitely in the right place then!" Sam smiled.

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thank the gods," he quips. "I still feel so very frustrated at missing the zombie attack weekend. Alas."

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"You and me both, Lee," Sam said. "It's like there was this huge bonding experience and I missed out on all of it."

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"You weren't there either? Man," he says, shaking his head.

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nope," Sam sighed, "I was in Colorado. Trust me, I would have rather been here fighting off the undead than being there."

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Lee sighs. "Well, maybe there will be a next time."

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"We can only hope, right?" Sam grinned, and elbowed him lightly. "And we're not sick, terrible people for thinking that way, either."

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Lee vaguely remembers something -- "Yeah, weren't they in mortal peril of dying during that weekend? I guess we are a bit morbid. Hrm."

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Sam coughed on a bite of apple and muttered something that may have been 'it's okay, you get used to it.' "Maybe a bit. But around here when aren't we in mortal peril from something?"

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Being constantly in mortal peril makes things more interesting, I suppose," and he laughs. So naive, so totally naive.

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Lee Adama!" Sam makes an exaggerated shocked face, happy to tease him for a minute. "You're nothing but an adrenaline junkie!"

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Lee looks sheepish. "You caught me," he replies, a bit pink.

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"But you're in training to be a pilot, right? Kinda goes with the territory...er, from what my dad said, of course."

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, your dad was a pilot?" Lee asks, interested. "So was mine. And yeah, definitely training to be a pilot."

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"He was a General in our Air Force," Sam said, somewhat proudly. "He used to tell some of the best stories about his buddies and some of the pilots under his command."

"Your dad was a pilot?" Sam asked. "Funny how these things run in families, isn't it?"

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Lee is certainly impressed. "A general? Cool! Have you ever considered following his footsteps?"

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Sam blushed a little. "Yeah, I have. Air Force Academy, all that stuff. Don't know if I'll make it as far as he did, though, being female. There's still a lot of bias in our armed forces against that."

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-01-03 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Lee frowns. "Was it you that I talked to about that, or Janet?" he asks, confused as that conversation took place a couple of months ago. "That's just ridiculous. Many of our best pilots are women and our female Battlestar commanders outnumber our male commanders."
