First Floor Lobby: Welcome The New Students

A table full of food (including some suspicious looking cupcakes) and drinks sit in the lobby. A bunch of name tags sit next to the food so that everyone can write their name down.

Lee answers this question as delicately as he can. "Not really."

"'Togusa'? Sounds interesting. Male or female, do you know?" he asks. "Rooms are pretty good here. I like mine a lot."

"'Not really'? Now I'm really worried."

"No idea, I'm afraid. The name sounds Japanese. But I'm afraid I haven't met him."

"Oh really? Do you have a single or a double?"

Lee gives just a tight smile in response to the robot thing.

"I have a single," Lee says brightly, "fit with a kitchen too. ~~And it looks remarkably like McLean, imagine that!~~"

Pip again detects that he should just leave sleeping dogs lie.

"A single? Nice. With a kitchen? Even better. You do a lot of cooking?~~Amazing! Who would have thought that something like that would happen?~~"

"I, um," and he hesitates, feeling like he should be talking about how he wants to be a pilot and shoot cylons and somesuch, but frak that, "I really like cooking. I hardly eat on campus - plus, it's safer this way." He laughs.

"Really? That's really cool. I always wished I had learned how to cook. I mean, I can do basic survival training cooking, but never real stuff. If I could I wouldn't worry so much about finding good French food wherever I go. What type of stuff do you cook?"

"Just about anything. I'm always looking for new recipes," Lee says.

"Neat," Pip responds. "Is there anything I can bribe you with to get you to teach me? From what I hear, the cafeteria food is very frightening. And eating out at resteraunts would require folding green paper that I, personally, do not have a great abundance of."

"Errr," he says, a bit deer-in-the-headlights. "Cooking lessons?" and he inwardly flails.

Pip holds up his hands. "You don't have to if you don't want to. Just trying to be friendly." He looks for another subject. "So, what is Capricia like? And what's it like to travel through space? I can only imagine what it's like to fly through the stars. Do you pilot a ship or anything?"

Lee's a little flumoxed by all the questions but he makes a valiant attempt: "Earth is like Caprica only completely ass-backwards and technologically stunted -- no offense; Traveling through space is... definitely an experience. Definitely makes you feel small and insignificant when you're surrounded by so many stars and can't see any planets or moons from the windows; and I am going to be a ship's pilot when I grow up -- flying our Fleet's primary attack crafts."

"Wow. Sounds great. Impressive that you already know what you want to do. And that you want to do it. My life's... kind of mapped out for me." He grimaces. "I'm sorry if I'm throwing the questions non-stop at you. It's just... I've been everywhere on Earth. So meeting someone from a place that I've never been, another galaxy in this case, is really exciting for me."

Lee omits that his life is mapped out for him as well, no need to get emo in the middle of the room in front of new people. He smiles. "Well, Pip, it was great meeting you and I look forward to seeing you around on campus!" he says brightly.

Pip grins and offers his hand again. "Likewise."

Lee shakes his hand warmly. "Enjoy the cupcakes!" he says before slipping away into the crowd.
