Slightly unnerved by the welcome party down on the first floor, Callisto retreated to the common room and started flicking through the tv channels. She finally found a rerun of Bitterwoman, and better still she hadn't seen this one yet.

"Better if you weren't here," Parker admitted. "Although, still not bad."

"Good to know," Jaye says. She could get upset. She could.

"Have fun," she says, and turns around and leaves.

Archie jumps up off the couch with an apologetic look at Parker, and runs after her.

She gets just outside the doorway and asks, "What?"

"I am sorry. I don't mean for her to have said that to you," says Archie. "And I do apologize for getting carried away. I intended no slight to you, truly."

Jaye shrugs. "Know what? If you're going to do this thing with Parker, fine. Just tell me now so I can cut my loses and keep my anti-emo streak going."

"There is no thing, Jaye, other than my own lack of judgment in letting a foolish moment get carried away." Archie twists at one of the buttons on his coat. "I honestly didn't mean to upset you."

"She doesn't seem to think there's no thing. I mean, we're not even dating, so you can do what you want."

Archie shrugs, awkwardly. "She's . . . hard to resist. But I honestly never meant to lead you on. I did enjoy New Year's Eve with you, and most certainly would not object to seeing you more often."

"Honestly." Archie looks at her intently. "If you are angry with me, you've a right."

Parker crosses her arms and pouts. Well, damn. So much for that.

"They keep pairing up! It's not fair!"

"That was mean, Parker," she said with a glare.

"What?" Parker asked, defensive. "No, really, what? We didn't even kiss this time!"

"You shouldn't have said that to Jaye. You shouldn't even be flirting with Archie. Not when you know Jaye has a claim on him. Plus you have Jack, though I guess you explained that already," Rory replied, still scowling.

"If the claim was that solid, he wouldn't have been flirting that hard," Parker said, and pouted again. "Or at least, I'd think so. He's a good kisser, why can't he date more than one person for a while? And hey, I'm sure Jack could kiss Jaye, if we wanted to make it equal!"

"In any case, that was a horrible thing to say to Jaye, and you should apologize," Rory persisted.

Parker really isn't sure what she's apologizing for. "Fine. I'll apologize for being honest. If she hadn't been here, I would've gotten more kisses, but I suppose it was rude to say so." She sighs. "Happy?"

"It was harsh, Parker," Rory said simply. "So yeah, you owe her an apology."

"Fine," Parker grouched. "No kisses and an apology. This evening sucks."

"Grrr. He's rooming with Thrace." She considered that. "A good reason to make out with him, while she's in the room. Thanks!"
