Basement pool, early afternoon

Feeling restless, Angel decided to go down to the now squid-free pool and do some laps.

Sean kept him company by sitting on the sidelines and chewing a squeaky toy.

Anyone who accused the vampire of having extra energy because he was nervous about a certain event with a certain girl that night would be immediately splashed.

Or dunked.

Possibly both.

"I'm sorry about everything that happened before," Angel said. "For what it's worth, I wasn't trying to hurt you. But you were right to not trust Angelus."

Angel began doing a lazy backstroke. "Fish? What kind?"

Maia nodded at what he said about Angelus, "I know you weren't but at the time...well thank you, for the apology." She said very touched that Angel apologized. "Oh Simon, he's a goldfish. I've never had a pet before and he's just so sweet."

"Sean's my first too," Angel admitted. "Well, first since having a soul. Had a few while soulless but - uh - different situation. Still used leashes though."

Belatedly realizing he might be oversharing, he changed the topic. "So - get the classes that you wanted?"

Maia raised an eyebrow at the leashes, "Well um" She started to blush a little and then coughed, "Yeah I did actually you?" She said grateful for the change of topic, she had a mental image of Angelus with Leather straps and a leash with a girl equally leather/leash clad.

"Yeah." Angel reached the edge of the pool, pushed off, and lazily made his way back. "Criminal Justice, Campainging, Studio Art, Self-Defense, and Jung. You?"

Maia reached back to where they had been talking at the same time Angel did. "Forensics, I think I am TAing that one, Paranormal with Grissom, Magical Theory and Speech." She moved to the edge moving her legs slowly in the water. "I haven't joined any clubs yet, I had wrestling but they closed it down."

"Just found out hockey got shut down too," Angel said, sympathetically. "Almost signed up for speech but Prof. Lyman seduced talked me out of it. Said I'd be better in Campainging instead."

"Oh God campaigning, thats why I came down here. I've been making campaign posters and on the phone for Phoebe almost nonstop since they announced re-elections." Maia pushed off the wall again "I am sorry your hockey got canned. Are you going to be starting any clubs this term?"

"I'm not a starter," Angel said. "In fact I'm trying to get out of something. No way would I be good on Student Council. But I can't find any other seniors who want to run."

"Oh goodness, what about Belthazor, isn't he a senior?"

"Junior. I think Besides, he shouldn't be on Student Council. He'd only manipulate things for his own goals. Hell, probably try to institute a lunch menu that gets me desouled."

Maia frowned at this, "Yeah." She looked thoughtful "I don't know any one really who is a senior, you can always just refuse to do it. Get involved in something else and say you don't have the time." she said trying to be helpful. "Belthazor always comes around when I want to see Phoebe, bit annoying actually like he can't stand her being out of his site. If I wasn't such good friends with Phoebe I would tell him to get lost."

"He is a little obsessive. Which, you know, pathetic and insecure much?" Angel said with no trace of irony or self-awareness whatsoever. "It's good that he loves Phoebe, but how do either of them breathe with all that cling?"

"I don't know. Maybe, maybe thats why he wants to desoul you. I mean you know because he was friends with Angelus and well your not Angelus anymore. Same kinda thing. I don't do the cling thing, I have a friends with benefits with Chiana and I like it that way."

"I don't have friends normally," Angel said. "This is all new to me. I usually deal with people via bite or avoid."

"Oh well yeah I can see where that would limit the amount of lasting relationships."

"Especially if you needed to breathe," Angel agreed. "I don't, so I guess I get it in spades with talking."

He in no way looked nervous as he said that.

Maia raised her eyebrow a little "So whats on your agenda for this evening." She swam a little closer to him fixing him in her gaze "Its the last night of freedom you know." She grinned at him, her eyes dancing.

Angel, who had completely forgotten that classes started tomorrow, took Maia's words in a completely different context. "Oh God! No, no, nothing that serious! It's just a date! I wasn't thinking - I mean, not that I wouldn't think - I mean - She's really nice and I like her but it's way too soon - and the curse - "

Maia looked surprised but Angels over abundance of information, She started giggling and shook her head "Goodness man, you've a dirty little mind." Maia couldn't help but keep laughing. "It good you've a nice girl to go on dates with." sure your not, your just itching to bust out the naughty boy icons

"Yeah," Angel said, still looking in no way totally and utterly intimidated. "Right. Good. Dating... dating is good. Keeps me... uh... talking to people, I guess. And me and talking goes so well. Always."

Maia gave him an encouraging smile "Well your doing pretty good at the moment. Just you know, remember to relax and just keep in mind that after the date she is still your friend. I assume you asked someone on a date that you've spoken to before so you've already got some practice in with talking to her."

"Callisto. She didn't kill me when I asked her on the date. That's a good sign, right?"

"Oh thats yeah, thats a wonderful sign." Maia nodded enthusiastically "Hell, it means that there may even be a second one you know." Maia treaded the water, "So are you getting her flowers or a legal weapon of some sort or are you just going to pick her up for the date?"

"Chocolate from Wonka's," Angel said. "She told me she didn't like flowers. Lee thought chocolate would be a good substitute."
