First Floor Lobby [Monday Evening]

Fraser's taken enough time to go back to his room, change out of his uniform and into jeans and a sweater before he ends up back in the first floor lobby of the dorms.

He's sitting on one of the benches in the lobby, reading a book from the library he'd acquired earlier and just keeping a general eye on things. Later, he'll venture outside, make sure the school was still secure.

[If you'd like to meet and/or talk to Fraser, the new security guy, now's your chance. Go for it.]

Archie laughs nervously. "To tell the truth, I'm not entirely sure. It was quite the displacement, both time and placewise. Supposedly I was sent here to fill some gaps in my education, and give me a better chance at promotion, but I'm beginning to doubt that. At any rate, here I am, and all things considered, adjusting decently enough."

He tilts his head a bit. "And you? How did you come to be this far south?"

"Change is most definitely good," replies Archie, nodding, "though I've resisted it mightily so far. After all, I've a century and a half of history and technology to catch up on. Do you know, I have yet to learn how to use the telephone?"

His cheeks flush slightly as he continues, "Though I'm beginning to think there may be sufficient motivation for me to learn, now."

Archie blushes a little bit more. "Well, I might be needing the phone in order to keep in contact with someone on a more regular basis."

Archie blinks. "In person? When we manage to get together? Or in class?" He'd thought that was fairly obvious. "Still, it would be easier to, ah, arrange meetings that way."

"It just seems somewhat silly," replies Archie with a shrug. "We all live in the same building, after all. I suppose that's just me being terribly old-fashioned, though."

Archie actually has nothing to say to this, because he's too busy grinning in a way that, if he knew what the word meant, could only be described as dorky.

Archie nods. "I haven't gotten around to getting clothes from this era. Which I should really do at some point, but this is just so familiar to me."

In return, he takes his time examining Fraser's hat and nods in approval. "Your choice in headgear is equally intriguing. Royal, er, Mounted Police uniform?"

Feeling it's only fair, Archie removes his own hat and hands it to Fraser. "Oh yes," he says, nodding fervently. "A friend of mine, Charlie Kawalsky, gave me a nice warm knitted cap for Christmas, but I feel naked without this hat sometimes."

He coughs. "Figuratively, of course."

"I have, as a matter of fact!" exclaims Archie as he takes his hat back and hands Fraser back his own. "I was hit twice while down at the bakery the other night, and I still have no idea who was behind it, or why."

"And quite strong, too," agrees Archie. "I've a bruise on my back from where the first missile hit me. No sound nor sight of anyone in the vicinity who might possibly have done it, either. It's the strangest thing."

He looks thoughtful. "If Jaye hadn't told me that the alien pastry that attacked me from the sky was actually part of a class project, I might almost suspect the same source."

"Something called a Twinkie?" Archie shakes his head. "They speak of it quite mundanely, but I can't quite believe anything that looks like that can possibly be natural. Evidently someone was throwing them off the roof as an experiment."

"No, but a fellow victim, Sydney Bristow, said she was going to find out." He considers for a moment. "I haven't seen her since, though. I suppose if I learned how to use the telephone I could do that, too."
