Rory had streamers and glitter and a newly-made, orange-and-white banner that read "HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALLY."

But Rory is not that tall. So she was having a bit of trouble hanging up the banner and streamers.

Well. She was having trouble inasmuch as she was being more flaily than usual.

Marty comes into the common room after spending the day on the mainland and sees the banner for Cally. He then silently curses to himself for not knowing and not having a present on hand.

"Marty!" Rory said, probably a bit too brightly. "Hi! How are you?"

Marty gives Rory a small grin. "Um. Okay. It's been a very strange week."

Rory nodded sympathetically. "So I've heard. I actually have something I wanted to talk to you about."

Marty frowns a little. "I think I have a pretty good idea what this is about," he said with a sigh.

"Uh huh." Rory surveyed Marty. "So. What happened with you and Angela last night?"

"Something unbelievably stupid," Marty said with a pained expression. "I was out on a date with Quinn and I saw Angela holding hands with Logan and I just snapped."

Marty groaned and flopped down on a couch. "I didn't expect to see her there and... well you probably have a good idea what happened from there."

Anders manages to slip away for a few minutes and flag Rory down. "Hey, Gilmore?"

"Hmm? Hi Anders!" Rory said happily. "Is this okay? There's cake, too, but it can wait until y'all feel like eating."

Anders leans over and gives her a quick hug. "You rock so much," he says, reaching for his wallet. "This is way more than I hoped for, and I really feel bad about dumping this on you so last-minute. How much do I owe you for the streamers and everything?"

Rory raised a brow, blinking. "You don't owe me anything. Seriously. Put the wallet away. It was fun."

"Hey Marty!" Bridge waves cheerfully.

"Hey Bridge!" Marty says with a forced grin. "How are you doing?"

"Pretty good, actually," he says, kinda vaguely. "You look like you've had better days."

"You could say that. Ever since that apple thing yesterday I've been having some weird memory issues," Marty says with concerned look on his face. "I just spent the day over at the Mainland hospital having a CT scan done just to make sure nothing was wrong."

Bridge's expression is totally innocent when he says, "Oh, dude, I'm sure you're fine."

"Blank! Hey, dude," Anders calls over, waving. "Glad you could make it on such short notice. 'cause like, yeah. Pretty much no notice, really, because I suck."

"Didn't even know until I walked in," Marty says with a wave. "Not really a problem around here. Impromptu parties seem to be some of the best ones."

"Yeah, I guess Cally didn't tell anybody, and I sorta forgot to let people know until this morning, too. Which sorta puts a cramp in the whole presents thing, but still. Thanks for showing up."

"I was able to sneak one present in," Marty says point over to a plate with grilled ham and cheese sandwich. "No gift wrapping, but it's kind of an old joke between us."

"Yeah, I don't get that, but hey, cool," says Anders, laughing. "I think she's mentioned a couple of things about the sandwiches before. And thanks for the quick thinking on that. Seriously, she wasn't even expecting presents, so that's just cool."

"You really do," Parker said as she came over, finishing up a slice of cake. "Bad boyfriend. No ice cream."

"Hey!" objects Anders. Then he sighs and his shoulders sag. "Well, okay, yeah. I do."

Parker dinked him on the nose with her spoon, then shrugged. "It happens. It's a party, there's cake. You can always make it up to her on Tuesday."

"I definitely plan to," replies Anders, a little cross-eyed from the nose-dinking. "But man, her birthday and then Valentine's Day right afterward? Talk about pressure to perform." He grins, for once aware of any innuendo in his words.
